Farm Fun!
The 4th grade students learned about agriculture and farming on May 22nd. In the morning, they had some activities at Northside lead by the Milton High School FFA. The high school students helped them with different stations. One stations planted flowers with the students. Another made dirt cups for snack, don't worry they were just pudding, Oreos, and gummy worms!
In the afternoon, the students visited a farm and learned all about different animals. Some facts they learned were...
- Cows lay down for 14 hours a day.
- There is a machine that milks the cow, so the farmers don't have to milk them by hand.
- Turkeys are breed mainly for food.
- Chickens at the farm lay eggs and then the eggs are delivered to grocery stores for us to buy!
Students also saw rabbits at the farm. It was a fun day! We loved going to the farm!

4th Graders Welcome 3rd Graders to Northside
This month our fourth graders had an exciting responsibility, each one had a third grade friend join them in their daily activities. From the schools East Elementary, West Elementary, Consolidated and Harmony, third graders came in, and it was our fourth graders responsibility to keep them company on a tour, teach them the expectations, and to make them feel welcome. Coming to a new school, especially when it's much bigger than your last, can make some kids nervous. Having a friendly face to make you feel welcome is a great idea, and, it also may teach the fourth graders about responsibility. Along with the daily activities, the fourth and third graders also got to play a fun game, good old bingo! In this bingo game, the questions were focused on Northside, to test what the third graders had learned throughout the day. The third graders got to see how much they knew and if they needed a little help, the fourth graders were happy to help. Good work fourth graders!

Hoo's Woods Visits 5th Grade
The presentation about Hoo's Woods was especially special this year as it was the 20th year anniversary for the Woods. A thing that was funny is that when the loudspeaker announced that it was indoor recess, one of the birds screeched really loud which made everybody laugh. Dianne Moller founded Hoo's Woods in 1988.
The first bird Dianne brought out was a red tail hawk named Casper. Dianne told everybody that it is estimated that a average red tail hawk can see a mouse as far away as 17 football fields! Dianne told us that in order to get a license for saving birds, you need to be 14 years old. She also said that 85% of the the red hawks don't make it to there first birthday.
Before she took out the second bird she did something rather unexpected, first she showed us a bald eagle egg and then a bald eagle foot! Then she took out a golden eagle named Wapaha. Wapaha was very curious and was looking around a lot. Then when she was putting it back it started chirping. Then she showed us a video of her and her bird (Clark) doing low chirping sounds to each other.
The third bird was a snowy owl named Wesley. She told us that the reason that his beak was open was because he was panting. Wesley is the only education bird hat is a snowy owl. She also told us that if you push there feathers out of the way and look in his ear, you could see the back of there eyeball.

Milton Middle School Visits 6th Grade
You probably know what happens when 6th graders finish their grade; they move on to Milton Middle School. MMS came to NIS on May 18th to talk to 6th graders about Middle School and what opportunities that we have there.
Four 8th graders graciously came to our school with the principal (Mr. Biederwolf), associate principal (Ms Czerwinski), and guidance counsler (Mr. Massoglia). A shout out to the 8th graders here: Clayton, Romeo, Hailey, and Ashley. They talked about staying organized, showed us a map of MMS, and told us more about things to do like Unity Team and Co-Ed Tennis. The 8th graders talked about what things they did and gave us advice. Thanks to MMS!
Making The Move is VERY IMPORTANT and is on August 13, 14, and 15th.

Agamograph's in Art
6th graders in Mrs. Moran's art class have been looking at the artist, Yaacov Agam. They made an Agamorgraph. An Agamograph is a form of kinetic art made popular by the Israeli artist. It is really two pieces of artwork in one! One artwork when viewed from the left and a different artwork when viewed from the right! Students used watercolor and pencil drawings to show a moment in time. When they finished that project, they were able to make bracelets.

Movie Review: Over the Hedge
By: Eli
I think, maybe, They could've added more to the plot of this movie, and they could've added more, "Food Gathering" scenes because, if your going to make a movie about animals trying to get through hibernation and what they're going to do about food, you need put more of that sequence into the movie. Otherwise, people are just going to get bored and they're going to get confused, because there's not a whole lot of sequences and scenes that stick to the main point of this movie.
More about the animation, the animation makes the friendly animals cute, and lovely, and I enjoy that. However, I think they could've spent more time and they could've deposited more money into the animation because it looks a little cheesy in the movie.
I will give Over the hedge a...B+ for good music, good plot, good acting, okay animation, I still don't like how they use some time away from the plot, and I wish they could've added more time and scenes into the movie.
Next month, is the end of school, and I will not be making another movie review, but I will keep producing them... at the middle school. See ya next time! Bye!
