Fabulous First Grade
Mrs. Martel's Class 2015-2016
Thanksgiving Day Feast
In November, we celebrated Thanksgiving with a special lunch. After reading stories and a Scholastic News about Thanksgiving, the boys and girls dressed as Native Americans with vests and headdresses that they created in our classroom with the help of Mrs. Antunes and Mrs. Sasso. It was so nice to sit altogether for a special meal just as the Pilgrims and Native Americans did on the very first Thanksgiving. It was so nice to have so many parents and family members join us for this special day!
The 50th Day of School Sock Hop
I can't believe the 50th day of school has already come and gone! Thank you so much to all the families that were able to attend our special after school event. It was a great night and both first grade classes had the chance to enjoy this night together. We had so many fun activities and games from the 50s! The boys and girls especially liked the 50s music and dances. We ended the night with a limbo contest!
Library Field Trip
We were very excited to visit the Greenville Public Library on our first field trip. Ms. Babs, the children's room librarian read to us and taught us about book care. We then had a tour of the library. The boys and girls were excited to pick out and check out a book. Many of the boys and girls got their very first library cards!
