A Note from Mrs.Smith
Thank you so much for my personalized beach bucket and buried treasure! It was fun to dig for my treasure and have the kids join in on the excitement! What a thoughtful gift!
Thank you to all the parents volunteers this year! Your time and effort are much appreciated! A special thank you to Mrs. Caruso for organizing our salsa party on Friday and all our event through the year. The kids had a blast!
* Field Day T-Shirts: T shirts will go home Monday or Tuesday. Feel free to cut the field day shirts however your child would like (ie. sleeves off, neck off, bottom fringed...). Just a reminder (mostly girls) to wear a tank top underneath any shirt that has very open sleeves ;)
** Field Day: Wednesday... please send your child with a full bottle of water and a towel. Sunscreen might a good idea... it will be a HOT day!
Spirit Week!
Animal Reseach
By: Brady Shim, Natalie McCool, and AJ Fudala
We all worked really hard over the last week to put together our slides for our animal research presentation. We all split up into groups and did our research and our slides. Some groups worked on animals that live in the water others worked on animals that live on land. We read book after book looking for information about our animals. It was a lot of fun. Let’s go into more detail on our animal models.
For the whales they are making a killer whale and a humpback whale. It looks great. Whales are very cool but very endangered animal. Here are some facts about the frog. The frogs on their poster is the poison dart frogs. Its looks amazing. The bat group did a clay model of a bat. The clay bat looks truly awesome and wonderful. The gorilla group did a gorilla with a baby gorilla on it’s back. The gorilla stands up by itself and uses toothpicks to keep steady. It looks like it took a lot of time. But it looks really great. The dolphin group did a model dolphin jumping out of the water with fish. The scene looks truly great. This project is really fun. We would all love to do something like this again.
Science
By Blaise Williams & Cole Spence
This week in science was super fun. We did many fun things and it couldn’t be better. This week we put hot water in room temperature water and saw what would happen. We found out that the hot water rises just like hot air and steam. We also found out cold water sinks and goes to the bottom of the cup just like cold air and mist. Hot water rises because it is less dense than room temperature water and cold water is more dense than room temperature water. We also did an experiment where we put water into two different containers and froze it to see how water changes when it freezes. I hope you enjoyed our SMORE!
Math
By John William Caruso and Talia Seshasai
This week in Math was a blast! We did so many fun projects. Our favorite was the town map. We also enjoyed making fraction portraits. The town map is where we come up with a name for a town, then we have to design it. We have to have names for all the streets, and stores. There was a checklist that said stuff like you need 5 rectangular buildings, or 6 pentagon shaped buildings. Then we had to draw out our town. We also colored them.
When we were doing our fraction portraits, we had to glue down little pieces of construction paper and try and make a self portrait of ourselves. A lot of them really looked like us! But one problem was everyone needed some of the same colors.
We had a lot of fun, and we loved being so creative! So as I was saying Math was a real Blast!!!!
