Getting the Lay of the Land
This past Monday, kindergarten, 6th grade, and 9th grade students had their first day at their new schools. Students were given tours of their building, set up their new Chromebooks, and participated in bonding exercises and fun activities with their new fellow classmates. Great job everyone, the first day is always the hardest!

Staff Members Recognized for Years of Service
On August 25, teachers, administrators, and staff members flocked to the PHS East Auditorium for Pennsbury's convocation. They were welcomed into the building through a tunnel of Pennsbury administrators and students holding up signs and cheering them on. The Long Orange Line also kicked off the event with a performance!
Tom Smith, Superintendent of Schools, and School Board President TR Kannan enthusiastically spoke to the crowd about how much their hard work is appreciated and does not go unnoticed. They both noted how much of a difference teachers make in the lives of their students. PEA President Nicole Peirce also took a moment to thank her fellow teachers for the job they do and reflect on the excitement of a new school year.
Dr. Smith began a new tradition at convocation this year - formally recognizing staff members who have been working for Pennsbury for 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and even 48 years! Mr. Kannan, Ms. Peirce, PESPA President Marla Lipkin, HR Director, Dr. Cherrissa Gibson, and HR Supervisor Robin Peters were on hand to distribute Pennsbury pins and a certificate of appreciation.
Parent/Guardian Reminder! Set up your Canvas Observer Account!
Canvas Observer accounts:
- Are available to parents/guardians of students in grades 6-12
- Roll over from the previous school year. If you set up an account last year, no action is needed to see this year's courses.
Do you need to set up your Canvas Observer Account or pair with an additional child? Visit the Pennsbury Canvas family Support Site for directions. Additional support links and a Help Desk Form are available on the site for new and existing users.
Pennsbury Staff Tour Underground Railroad Sites
Over the summer, Pennsbury teachers, administrators, and support staff had the opportunity to tour historic sites connected to the Underground Railroad. This tour was led by the nonprofit African American Museum of Bucks County (AAMBC).
Dr. Cherrissa Gibson, Director of Human Resources, Professional Development, and Equity stated: “We are pleased to have the AAMBC as a resource for our teachers and students. We recognize that local history is important for our students and their families, and the AAMBC can teach us a lot about the key role that people in Bucks County played in American History.”
Pennsbury Community School Fall Session
The Pennsbury Adult Community School fall session is now open for registration! Courses begin at the end of September. You do not need to be a Pennsbury resident to enroll, so make sure to share and enroll with your friends and family!

New District Website Guide
Over the summer, Pennsbury implemented brand new websites for the district and each of its schools. We are excited to offer our families a fresh, new website with easy-to-use navigation features. The website is still in a beta phase, as we will continue making adjustments throughout the start of the school year. We appreciate your patience and feedback!
