Consultation with School Counselors

Services School Counselors will provide during the school closure:

School Counselors are available DAILY by email. Please try to utilize email, as it is the best form of communication for school counselors during this time. Should you need to request a video conference for you and your student, please fill out the Microsoft form attached to this newsletter to request a CONSULTATION.

Counselors are NOT providing virtual mental health counseling during school closures; counselors are ONLY providing consultation and connecting students/parents to external resources.

Parents or parents WITH their child(ren) can schedule a video conference with counselors who may have questions or concerns about resources and recommendations to assist their child(ren) with anxiety and other issues. Please be sure the parent understands this is not family counseling or individual counseling for their child(ren). This is consultation.

PWCS school counselors recognize that students and parents or guardians have a right to know the limits of confidentiality. Please click here to see PWCS Regulation 651-2 regarding information on the confidentiality of student-disclosed information.

Your PWCS school counselor will discuss with you how the email or Zoom platform you are using for academic advising or parent/student consultation works, as well as some best practices for using the platform.

Please see review this link to the limits of Confidentiality on this platform during school closures.

Self-harm or Suicidal Ideations

Should a student reach out to a school counselor and express self-injurious behavior or suicidal ideation. School Counselors will contact parents immediately and provide external resources for their student. If school counselors be unable to reach parents/guardians, a call for a welfare check will be made.
