Meet the New Members of the AHES Staff

This summer we were busy hiring all of our new AHES staff members to fill the retirements and promotions of our departing AHES staff members. Below you will find a short bio and picture of our new AHES team members.

Mrs. Andrea DiSciullo - Office Manager

Hi, I am Andrea DiSciullo, and I am the new Office Manager at AHES. I started as an attendance/health clerk/registrar at Crescent Elementary in 2007; moved to Canyon Rim Elementary in 2009 as attendance/health clerk/registrar and then to Chapman Hills Elementary in 2011 where I was attendance/health clerk/registrar for five years. I then worked in Special Ed as a Senior Secretary for a short time in 2016/2017 before moving to HR as a personnel technician for OUSD in May of 2017.

I have been married for 27 years and all three of my children, two daughters and a son-24, 22 and 19, are products of OUSD: Crescent Elementary, El Rancho MS, and Canyon HS. They are my world!!

I enjoy cooking for my family, hosting family parties, reading, going to concerts, the beach and gardening. I am crazy for the holidays, especially Christmas. I look forward to working with you and your children at AHES!

Mrs. Jaclyn Chavez - Kindergarten

Hi, I am Jaclyn Chaves, and I am excited to join the AHES team. I grew up in Anaheim Hills and went through Orange Unified School District. I got my Bachelors in Child and Adolescent Development and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Fullerton. I received my Masters in Teaching through National University. I taught Pre-Kindergarten for five years and then Kindergarten for the last two years at St. Francis of Assisi School.

I have been married for four years and have a 3-year-old daughter and a 6-month-old daughter. love spending time with my family and going on adventures together. I am looking forward to a great school year!

Mr. Lemos - Night Custodian

My name is Eric Lemos, and I am the new Night Custodian here at Anaheim Hills Elementary. I have been with the Orange Unified School District for a year now. One of my favorite things to do is to take my dog Rusty for a drive in my Subaru or to take him to the dog park.

Mrs. Shepherd - First/Second Grade

Hello, my name is Tracy Shepherd and I am so excited to be an Anaheim Hills Panther this year! I have taught 2nd grade these past few years in San Marcos (North County San Diego) where I also served as my school site’s Technology Lead. One of my many passions as a teacher is strategically incorporating technology as a means of enhancing student learning, growth, reflection, and collaboration. I also have experience working as a Reading Intervention teacher for kindergarten, first, and second grade in Oceanside.

I received my Bachelor's degree from California State University San Marcos and earned my Teaching Credential and Master's of Arts in Teaching from the University of California Irvine. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two cats! I am also an iced coffee connoisseur, so you might spot me trying out new coffee places in Orange County during the weekend. I look forward to being a part of the Anaheim Hills community and making a positive impact on our students!

Mrs. Zuidema - Kindergarten Teacher

Hello, I’m Melanie Zuidema. I am so very excited to be teaching Kindergarten this year as an Anaheim Hills Panther! I have been an educator for 30 years in Orange Unified, and have taught Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third Grades. I attended Cal State Fullerton for my undergraduate degree and received my teaching credential and Master’s Degree from Chapman University in Orange.

My husband and I have two children, ages 20 and 17, both of whom have grown up attending OUSD schools. My true passion is teaching and working with students. When not in the classroom, I enjoy reading, photography, cooking, baking, taking RV road trips with my family, and spending time with my two dogs. I am thrilled to join the Anaheim Hills Elementary Team, and look forward to an incredible year!

Data Confirmation Due August 18th & Immunizations

Data Confirmation - Due August 18th

Please check the parent portal and complete your data confirmation. This process will confirm all of your student's current data and will also allow you to submit all required documents for your student for the 2021-22 school year. All data must be completed prior to the school beginning on August 18th. Part of the Data Confirmation Process includes submitting forms via Informed K-12. If you have any questions, please contact the front office.

Immunizations

California schools are required by law to check the immunization records for all new student admissions at TK/Kindergarten through 12th grade and all students advancing to 7th grade before entry. Students meeting all immunization requirements will be unconditionally admitted into the school. Students may also be unconditionally admitted if they have a permanent medical exemption in accordance with Section 6051. Your child may receive the necessary vaccines from his/her primary care practitioner or pharmacy. It is important to get your child vaccinated early so there will be no issue with school entry

Arrival & Dismissal Procedures

Like last year, parents will be asked to remain in their cars at arrival and dismissal.

Please refer to this document, for details.

Campus Volunteers

Unfortunately, at this time parent volunteers are not permitted on campus. I am hopeful that this restriction is lifted in the near future. When that is the case, we will be sure to let you know!

Free and Appropriate Education

Your Right to a Free and Appropriate Education

Article IX, Section 5 of California Constitution states: “The Legislature shall provide for a system of common schools by which a free school shall be kept up and supported in each district.” The California State Supreme Court held that this provision prohibits public schools from charging mandatory fees for curricular and extracurricular educational activities. This decision affects our students in several areas.

Art Projects: All students must be provided with the supplies to complete art projects. Once projects are completed, students may be charged the cost of supplies if they wish to keep the item. Students may not be charged for food items prepared as part of the class.

Binders/Notebooks, Class Materials: Teachers may recommend optional materials, provided there is no penalty for students not having these items. No fees may be required for participation in a class or use of supplemental novels, workbooks, or supplies.

Field Trips/Outdoor Science School: Schools may charge fees in connection with school-related field trips and Outdoor Science School as long as no student is denied the opportunity to participate. In the case of Outdoor Science School, an alternative activity must be provided for students who choose to stay home.

Donations: Donations are voluntary only. There will be no negative impact on failing to donate. Programs may be canceled or modified if financially unfeasible given the level of donation.
