The 8th and 19th Amendment
Sarah Lankford
The 19th Amendment
This right is about women suffrage. Women were not given the right to vote until 1919. This was a great turn in events for women everywhere. Women were being treated unfair because they were as smart as men but could not share their ideas or thoughts. Before now women were expected to stay at home and cook and clean. It took over 70 years to finally be able to vote.
The 8th Amendment
This amendment prevents anyone from getting Excessive Punishment. This is when they give you cruel and unusual punishment. They used to use this to get answers from criminals. Now all they can do is put them in jail and wait for them to talk. The punishments also have to fit the crime.
