Proud of Our Promise …
Today I Promise To:
Take Care of Myself
Take Care of Others
Take Care of This Place
I Won’t Forget My Promise
Welcome back everyone for what should be exciting school year! It is with great pleasure that we welcome your family to Jack Stuart School (JSS) and Battle River School Division (BRSD) for 2022/23.
This year we have over 275+ students from pre-Kindergarten to Grade 5. JSS is a wonderful school with lots going on. We have many returning staff members, along with a couple new ones. We are also very excited to see so many returning student faces and extremely pleased with our new students this year.
This year promises to be exciting, challenging and ultimately rewarding as we work together in the best interests of our students. We look forward to the cooperative efforts of staff, students and parents/guardians as we continue to enhance JSS throughout the 2022/23 year.
Our goal is to make a safe, caring and productive environment for all our students and staff, and provide them with choice and a place where they feel confident and comfortable to strive to be the best they can be. This will create a school environment where courtesy and kindness prevail and respect is mutual.
Our JSS staff learning this year continues around literacy, numeracy and the critical 2 (high quality teaching and optimum student learning). We are excited to share our learning with you. Stay tuned in future editions of our JSS newsletter.
We look forward to making your child’s educational experience positive and rewarding at JSS. We believe that you, as parents/guardians and family members, play a tremendous role in your child’s education. Essential to your child’s success is your continual interest and support. A child who knows that their family is interested in and supports school programs will most always enjoy greater success.
We extend an open invitation to all families and friends to attend our school events, extra-curricular competitions and other functions open to the public throughout the year. Your support is greatly appreciated and input/feedback is always welcome.
If you would like to assist with any of our school (parent) council, teams/clubs or one of our school programs, please notify the school with your requests and intentions. Volunteers make a difference!
Have a great school year!
Todd Sieben, Principal
Erica Easton, Assistant Principal

School Council
by Terra Manion, Chair: jackstuartparentadvisory@gmail.com
JSS Council & Parents’ Society
Jack Stuart School Council and Parents’ Society is a group of parent/guardian volunteers that do a lot of extras for the school. We volunteer and fundraise for our school - eg. a new playground addition, Gaga pit, skating, swimming, parfait days, classroom supplies (extras) and many other fun things. We meet virtually once a month to discuss with teachers and administrators what is happening within the school and the division. This is a place for us to ask questions, make suggestions and learn about what is upcoming in our school. We are always looking for new members to hold various positions and for anyone interested in learning more about what is going on at JSS. Everyone is always welcome at any or all of our meetings.
Over the past 2+ year, we have applied for approximately 15 grants for our fully inclusive, wheelchair accessible and playable playground addition. This summer we received $3000 from the Gord Bamford Foundation and $10,000 from the City of Camrose. We are very grateful for these funds and hope this will get the ball rolling on others.
We will be running the DFS Fundraiser once again this year. Catalogues and more info will be sent home with students on Oct. 3rd.
We do not yet have a date set for our first meeting but will let you know when we do. A Google Meet link will be sent out via school messenger prior to our monthly meetings for anyone to join. Hope to see you then!
Fundraising with Save-On-Foods
JSS Parents' Society continues its partnership with Save-On-Foods to generate playground funds. Here is how you can help this fundraising effort:
1. Shop at Camrose Save-On-Foods (starting immediately and ongoing).
2. On the back of your receipt write 'Jack Stuart School' or 'JSS'.
3. Give your receipt to any cashier with instructions that it is for the Jack Stuart School's fundraising program.
4. Cashier will then photocopy your receipt and return the original to you.
5. JSS will receive 5% of total purchases made according to the receipts that have been submitted.
6. Money earned will go towards our fully inclusive, zero barrier playground addition.

Please help your child remember to pack their library books on their assigned library days so they have the opportunity to check out new books every week. Books that take students longer to read can certainly be renewed as well.
I will send out reminders throughout the year for outstanding lost or missing books. Please feel free to contact Mrs. BIletski if you have any questions/concerns about library. Looking forward to keeping JSS kids excited about reading!
