Anti-Semitic Image at MHS
Dear MHS Families and Caregivers,
I am sad to report on Friday, someone posted an anti-Semitic image in the gender-neutral bathroom. While we are working on trying to decipher who did this, we want to respond as a community.
MHS will hold a "Stand Up to Hate" Vigil on Monday during TA. We will recognize all groups that face hate each day.
Students will go to TA first, check in with their teacher and then walk in front of MHS towards the back parking lot. We ask everyone to be silent as we walk outside.
Once everyone is outside, we will hold a moment of silence, and then anyone can share their voice, and like in a Quaker meeting, a response is unnecessary.
Our announcement in TA will be-
"On Friday, someone drew an anti-semitic image in the gender-neutral bathroom. Hateful images, racist words, anti-semitic and or hate speech intended to create fear have no space at MHS.
We work towards inclusion, safety, and growth and will fight hate with community and love.
Our response to hate is to Stand Up and take our power back. We do this together as a school community."
After the vigil, everyone will return to the block 2 class and take a moment to gather ourselves and recenter our focus.
We encourage you to speak with your student, and please encourage students to share with us if they hear or know anything. MHS staff will be available for any student who wants support or has questions.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Jason
Principal
