Timothy Ball News -Spring Break-
Welcoming all. Believing in all. Growth for all.
A Note from Mr. Ciochina
Timothy Ball Family,
These are uneasy times and we are all learning how to navigate our current situation. A few things are certain: The staff, teachers, and I are missing and thinking about our students constantly. We are here to support our students and families. We will do whatever we can to ensure meaningful teaching and learning during this extended closure. When updated information becomes available from the state or from our district office, it will be communicated.
Recent announcements from the State of Indiana:
-All schools in Indiana are closed through May 1.
-All state assessments, including IREAD-3 and ILEARN, will be cancelled for spring 2020.
Teachers will be communicating with students and families through our BUZZ Learning Management System prior to the Distance Learning days which begin on March 30. Distance Learning questions should be emailed to your child's teacher. More guidance will also be coming from our district office prior to March 30. You can click this link to learn more about how to access and navigate BUZZ.
Thank you for being a fantastic partner in education. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Also, please reach out if we can be helpful to your family during this time.

Message from Dr. Lux from March 19
Dear Parents, Staff and Community,
At a press conference this afternoon, Governor Holcomb announced some key decisions regarding K-12 education.
- All schools in Indiana will remain closed until May 1, 2020.
- All State testing has been cancelled for this school year.
The immediate impact of these decisions will be that distance learning will be extended for all Crown Point students beginning March 30, 2020 and extended until May 1, 2020. Distance learning student assignments, expectations and grading will be forthcoming following Spring Break.
There are still other school related issues about which we are all awaiting further information and decisions from the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, the State Board of Education, and the Governor’s Office. Among those issues:
- Possible changes/waivers related to high school graduation requirements
- Status of SAT, ACT, ASVAB, AP Exams
- Changes/Opportunities for Summer School
- Spring Sports
Local Decisions still to be determined:
- CPHS Graduation Ceremony to be determined based on CDC criteria related to group assembly
- CPHS Prom will not take place in April with a possibility for a later date, again determined by any new information related to group assembly in May.
We understand that there are many uncertainties regarding the completion of this school year. However, every effort is being made to provide a quality distance learning education first and foremost to our students.
In this time of uncertainty, we must continue to be patient and wait for further decisions and information from State Government and the Department of Education.
All available and new information will be shared with our Crown Point School stakeholders as soon as it is made available to us and processed into our school corporation education programs, policies and procedures.
Sincerely,
Dr. Tony Lux
