Raymond Central Newsletter
December 2018
From the Desk of Dr. Joel...
Happy December RC Nation,
Thanks to cell phone picture technology, I was sent a photo from December 2017 that showed the Joel family meeting with Santa at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo wearing sweatshirts. One year later we were all wearing winter coats and snow gear cleaning off the driveway. I hope the first week of December’s weather pattern is not indicative of what is coming for the remainder of winter.
Thank you to all stakeholders who participated in the AdvancED accreditation site visit process. A lot of work went into preparing for the visit and compiling district data for the external team to review. The AdvancED external site visit team was made up of a lead evaluator from Louisiana, an assistant evaluator from Omaha Public Schools, a team member from Florida and a team member from western Nebraska. Overall, the initial feedback came back positive in regards to the work we are performing through our district mission statement, core values, and collective commitments. It is always great to receive feedback in regards to the work we do on a daily basis and also feedback for continuous improvement. Thank you again for making Raymond Central a great place to live and learn.
As part of our continuous improvement process, the Board of Education utilizes a 360 Superintendent Evaluation. Raymond Central has worked collaboratively with the Nebraska Association of School Boards (NASB) to accomplish this task. Thank you for completing a brief survey that was sent randomly to administrators, staff, parents/guardians, students and community members as your voice is a pivotal component in the process. All survey data will be complied by NASB and then shared with the Raymond Central BOE before the December BOE meeting. The purpose of the 360 process is to provide the Superintendent with constructive feedback relating to their goals and performance each year as Superintendent. Keeping the process open and transparent is extremely important, please call the district office with any questions or concerns.
As a result of last year’s feedback from the 360 evaluation, Raymond Central is looking to create opportunities to partner with local stakeholders to be part of the strategic planning process. For this, Raymond Central is forming a community facility and maintenance committee. The purpose of this committee is to review the RC facilities strategic plan, growth patterns, and resources to better understand our needs as a district. If you are interested in serving on this committee, please email Cheryl Rieck (crieck@rcentral.org), district office executive assistant. The first committee meeting will held late January or early February.
Have a fantastic December. Go Mustangs!
