A Message to our Bears...
We are seeking morning carline volunteers. We need volunteers from 7 am to 7:20 am. We have one consistent volunteer, Mr. Johnson, in the front, and Mr. Coble on the gym side. We also have another volunteer that joined us after Christmas, Mr. Lucic. Thank you!
If interested in volunteering, please stop by the receptionist for a volunteer form. Thank you!
Speaking of carlines, please use either line regardless of the student age in the morning. Pick the shortest line (usually the gym side). Intermediate students may get dropped off on gym side and walk through the school.
Reminder: Monday is a school holiday for all! Enjoy your 3 day weekend!
Sincerely,
Shelley Keck
Principal

Schlitterbahn Waves of Pages
December 13-February 7 is our Schlitterbahn Waves of Pages Reading Challenge. We are so fortunate that Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels has invited our school to participate again this year. Their program asks grades K-5 to read 600 minutes to earn a FREE personal ticket as well as valuable coupons for the family. Books read are "for fun" reads where students can choose whatever they like from home, our library and/or public libraries. It's an amazing program and we HOPE MANY students will take advantage of this opportunity. For more information, contact krista.saulter@lvisd.org.
Library News! Great New Books for the New Year
Valentine's Day
Valentine’s Day is on Monday, Feb 14th, this year. In the past, students have received many Valentine’s Day flowers, balloons, and large cookies. Valentine’s Day is a very special day for all of us; however, the many gifts sent to the school causes severe interruptions in our teaching and learning time. In addition, the transportation department will not allow balloons, glass vases, and/or large bouquets of flowers to be taken home on the bus. This becomes a safety issue. So, in order to not interrupt our teaching/learning time and/or create a safety concern on our buses, we are asking you to please refrain from sending Valentine’s Day gifts like these to school. Please celebrate Valentine’s Day at home with your children, as we will allow the classes time to celebrate here with each other in the classrooms. Valentine's Day is not designated as a parent party event. Students will celebrate in their classes. Thank you for your understanding.
