Blue Jay Line-Up
Critical information for the coming week at West End!
Thanksgiving Break November 23rd-25th
Teacher of the Year: Ms. DeGuira!!!
"Helping students build relationships and checking in with families helps education to transcend the classroom. Having events outside of school hours allows students and their families to make connections that will last. I also make it a point to attend sporting events, the school plays, and host a Battle Ball Club once a week. My hope is that children walk away from West End with memories that will last a lifetime. That they will think back to middle school and smile."
Thank you for your commitement to our students, Ms DeGuira! We appreciate you.
Parents, do you like to parTAY!
Car Riders
Arrival & Dismissal Plans 2022-2023
IMPORTANT: STUDENTS CANNOT BE DROPPED OFF PRIOR TO 8:40! STUDENTS LEFT AT ELMINGTON PARK MORNINGS OR AFTERNOON ARE NOT ON SCHOOL PROPERTY AND THE SCHOOL IS NOT LIABLE FOR THEM.
ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL PLAN
BUS RIDERS: Students riding the school bus will unload and load in the circular drive area off Bowling Avenue. The circular drive, which is accessible via Bowing Avenue, must be void of vehicular traffic during arrival from 8:15-8:45 AM and from 3:30-4:15 PM during dismissal. Parents and other visitors who need to visit the office or meet with school personnel during the times identified above, must either park in Elmington Park, adjacent to Campus or parallel park on Elmington Avenue east of campus. (Note: Students arriving to WEXP will need to be dropped off in the back of the school near portables/cafeteria. Please contact Brittney Hines at WEXP.WEMS@gmail.com).
CAR RIDERS: Students being transported to/from school via personal motor vehicle will unload/load in the semi-circle drive located directly behind the New Gymnasium, which is accessible at the intersection of Elmington and Richardson Avenue.
Students dropped off in the morning should EXIT FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE for student safety. In the afternoon, cones will be strategically placed in the center of the semi-circle due to two lanes for parent’s convenience. Please pay close attention to our staff who directs you to pull up to avoid traffic backing up in the street. Please do not drop students off until we give the signal to do so.
Vehicles in the right lane should turn right and vehicles in the left lane should turn left when EXITING. During morning arrival, students should be dropped off no earlier than
8:40 AM, and picked up after school, no later than 4:00 PM at which point school personnel supervision will be available. Parents arriving with students prior to 8:40 are asked to wait in vehicle with their child until 8:40. During dismissal in the afternoons, parents who arrive early are asked to pull all the way to the designated cone area of the semi-circle near the exit sign so that the maximum amount of cars will be able to park in both lanes. Cones will be placed in the center of the semi-circle to route two-way traffic. Parents are asked to REMAIN IN THEIR CARS so that when students are dismissed, they may locate your vehicle. All vehicles should remain at a standstill until students have loaded into their vehicles. Parents should remain in the designated traffic lane until a staff member directs movement of traffic. This will ensure that our car line moves efficiently, and students are not at risk of being hit by oncoming traffic. If your child is not outside during dismissal, you must continue through the line and circle around to enter again. Please be reminded, if you are in the right lane, you must turn right and vehicles to the left lane must turn left so that you are able to exit campus in a safe and efficient manner.
Walkers: Those students who walk to/from school must use the sidewalks, where available and ALWAYS cross streets where Crossing Guards are available. Crossing Guards should be posted at Bowling and Richland Avenues, Bowling and West End Avenues, Elmington and Richardson Avenues. Walkers should arrive on campus no earlier than 8:40 AM, at which point school personnel supervision will be available.
PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU DROP YOUR CHILD IN ELMINGTON PARK, YOU ARE DOING SO AT YOUR OWN RISK. STUDENTS ARE NO LONGER ON SCHOOL PROPERTY ONCE THEY CROSS INTO THE PARK AND BECOME WALKERS BY DOING SO.

Zac Smith, Athletic Director @ J.T. Moore here. Has reached out to let us know about their ticketing process. We co-op Wrestling with J.T. Moore and will be playing basketball there on December 15th.
Please consider purchasing your tickets in advance if you plan to attend a particular game.
J.T.Moore will not be taking cash for our athletic events and strictly using the GoFan online platform for all ticket sales. They will have the QR code set up and available on game days.
Lastly, all J.T. Moore home basketball/wrestling matches will take place in the main gym. You will enter our building via the "Sports Entrance" located on the Green Hills Park side of the campus (point of reference is a small playground - if you pass the Greenhouse you have gone too far).
Schoology Access Codes for Parents
Student assignments and activities are posted in our Learning Management System, Schoology. All parents and Guardians can access their student's data by setting up a parent account. All you need is your individual code. Please e-mail James.Stephensiii@mnps.org from your registered e-mail account and he will reply with your Schoology Access code. Since it's long and burdensome to type in, this cut and paste method is much easier to manage.
Campus Portal for Parents
Parents and Guardians can also access The Campus Portal for Infinite Campus as well. Campus is our Student Management System that has attendance, schedules, assessment, contact information, behavior logs and more. Just like with Schoology, you have an individual Parent code. Please e-mail James.Stephensiii@mnps.org from your registered e-mail account and he will reply with your Schoology Access code.
Check out Campus Portal information on this link: Campus Portal.
Student Laptops
Students who returned their technology contracts should have received or be receiving a district computer for check-out. Please remember that these devices are not to be used for free playing games, or at recess and lunch. Using them properly cuts down on damaged devices.
Accidents do happen, but students will be held accountable for intentional damage or damage due to negligence. Following MNPS Student Device Procedures, students may be subject to fines of replacement costs for damaged devices, as assessed by School Administration.
Total replacement cost: $200
Screen replacement: $40
Keyboard Replacement: $17
