Banneker Principal Weekly Update
January 4 - January 8
Principal's Welcome Message and P2 Theme
This is your principal, Robert L. Carter with the Banneker Principal Weekly Update. Happy New Year to you and your family. I hope you had a great holiday break. Remember that we resume our 100% Distance Learning schedules tomorrow and will remain in DL throughout this entire week. You may have heard from your teachers by now. They will keep you in the loop with any changes to their schedules, etc. Remember that Mondays are asynchronous days after the morning meeting. Tuesday-Friday of this week will be 100% Distance Learning. I will continue to monitor LCPS’ timeline for the Hybrid return and communicate it with you as soon as I hear anything. This week’s Positivity Project theme is Optimism. Optimism means you expect the best from the future and work to achieve it. It represents a state of hopefulness and confidence about the future (both short and long term). I don’t know about you, but I am determined to make 2021 the best year yet and I am optimistic about it. During the break we asked your child to read, read, read and complete the winter reading incentive. There is still time to complete it. Complete as many snowballs as possible and turn it into your teachers this week. Students who complete all of the activities will get a personalized note from me in the mail. I hope I get to write every student in the school. Thank you to the families who participated in the PTO sponsored Giving Tree and the PTO gifts in teacher mailboxes. We really appreciate the extra holiday cheer and the boost into the New Year. Have a great evening.

We Want Your Pictures!!!
Hi Banneker Families!
We want to continue to document memories we make this year for our yearbook and since we will not have a Turkey Trot day or a Parade page for the yearbook this year, we would love to include snow day pictures in their place! If you could please send in pictures of the students and how they celebrated the snow days this week that would be great! You can get them to us a couple of different ways.
- You can join the Shutterfly site which I have included directions for in this email.
- You can email them to your teacher.
- You can send them to me at Meaghan.stevens@lcps.org
I would love to have as many pictures as we can get and fill up those pages with snow day fun! Thank you and please email me with questions. 😊
