Staff Update
March 8, 2019
Dress Code
I wanted to clarify the expectations with hoods in the classroom. We do not condone students wearing hoods (see the policy below from the Student Handbook). We have a few instances, which were discussed during Site Team, in which it would be acceptable for a student to wear something on his/her head. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Dress Guidelines
A school is frequently judged as much by the appearance of its student body as it is by the caliber of its academic program. Therefore, we request pupils maintain a clean and neat appearance. Students should wear clothes appropriate for the weather conditions and school day activities. Footwear appropriate for physical activity in gym and at recess helps to prevent injury. Students may not wear clothes that are disruptive to the educational process (i.e. alcohol or tobacco advertisements, inappropriate language and/or suggestions, etc). If there is question over a student’s dress or appearance, the parent will be contacted.
It is inappropriate to wear anything that distracts from or disrupts the learning environment or educational process. Examples of distracting or disruptive items and clothes are listed below:
Sagging pants (pants worn below the waist)
Obscene/profane T-shirts
Drug, alcohol, tobacco related items or clothing
Translucent clothing
Underwear (when worn as outer wear)
Head wear (hats, hair rollers, bandannas, headbands, sunglasses)
Sleeveless tops with spaghetti straps or boys muscle shirts
Shorts may be worn, but the length should be approximately mid-thigh or “thumb” length when standing up straight
When, in the judgment of a teacher or principal, a student’s appearance or mode of dress disrupts the educational process, or constitutes a threat to health or safety, the student may be required to make modifications. Please also refer to Belton School District Board Policy JFCA.

MMD Survey - Required
Teachers - Please complete the survey below. Participation in this survey is required.
HSA Certified Staff Members,
As part of our participation in Missouri Model Districts (MMD), our district has been asked to participate in the following survey. Below is a link to the survey. It asks for our feedback on the implementation of collaborative teams, data-based decision making, common formative assessments, effective teaching/learning practices, and leadership in our district.
The results of the survey are confidential, so please answer honestly. To have accurate results for our district, all staff, and administrators need to take the survey. The survey should only take 8-10 minutes to complete. Thank you in advance for taking the survey.
Please complete the survey by March 31 through the following link:
