The Rebel Crier

November 11, 2022

Thank you, Veterans!

The NHFS community thanks all who have served our nation in the armed forces to protect our nation in times of war and peace. In this era where it sometimes seems that many Americans can't agree on much, we can all agree that it is important to recognize those that put differences aside to serve the whole country and all of its citizens.

During REBEL Block on Friday, teachers discussed the origins of Veteran's Day, and students were encouraged to write letters to veterans that we are sending through the A Million Thanks organization. As part of their letters program, A Million Thanks collects and distributes millions of letters of thanks and support and sends them directly to active, reserve, and veteran military.

If you are interested in sending letters with your family, you can find information by using this link.

NF Food Pantry Donation Drive

Starting Friday, Nov. 11, the Student Council will be sponsoring a food drive to benefit the New Fairfield Food Pantry as we move into the holiday season. We will have drop locations in the main lobby of the school to bring donated goods. The attached flyer shows what the pantry can take, can't take and what they are in need of most at this time. Please take a look and consider bringing in a donation or two to help those in our town in need. The drive will run through Monday Nov. 21.

REBEL PLAYERS FALL PLAY - "The Hope and Heartache Diner"

Come see the NFHS Rebel Player's production of Lindsay Price's "The Hope and Heartache Diner", directed by NFHS senior Grace Kersting!

Diners are a special place. You can get your coffee, fall in love, and find light when the world is dark. Duke’s is a family business - four generations strong. Felix wants one last hurrah before leaving for college. She’s doing the full run - open to close - just like her grandpa did when he was a teenager. But why? Everyone knows Felix can barely wipe tables. Why is she trying so hard to connect? And what will the fate of the diner be?

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18 and SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19 at 7pm! Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for students and seniors.

Order your tickets online here: https://www.showtix4u.com/events/19641/?event=68771

Students In Action

Día de los Muertos Collaboration

New Fairfield High School AP Spanish Literature and Life Skills classes created an altar in honor of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a Mexican celebration honoring deceased family and friends. Students created lessons and shared them in order to learn about the different elements that go on the altar, then created an altar in the world language hallway.
