May is Asian Pacific Heritage Month
Dear Young Families,
Mrs. Rodriguez: On Wednesday, Mrs. Erin Rodriguez joined the May General PTA Meeting. It was great to hear from Young's new principal for the 21-22 school year. Mrs. Rodriguez has visited with students and staff several times this spring. She looks forward to being Young's new principal and becoming a part of the Young School community.
21-22 PTA Board Elect: The 21-22 PTA Board was elected at the 5/26 PTA Meeting. There are few open positions. If you are interested in serving in one of these positions, please contact Melissa Anargyros at manargyros@gmail.com.

School Material Drop Off: Students will return all of their school materials at the end of the school year. This includes chromebooks, chargers, textbooks, manipulatives, and lmc books. In-person students will return their items on May 28, June 1 and 2.
Remote students will return their materials on June 7 from 8:00-4:00. Families will use the front circle drive to drop off school materials. The chromebook and charger need to be returned in a bag from home. School books and other materials need to be returned in a separate bag. If you would like to return your items before June 7, please contact the school office at 630-375-3800 to make arrangements with us. Here is a note that indicates the school materials that need to be returned. June 7 Material Drop Off for Remote Students
Field Day: Field Day is June 4. Remote students will participate in Field Day virtually.

Last Day of School: June 4 is the last day of school for all students. June 4 is a full day from 9:00-3:00.
21-22 Registration: Student registration for next year is open. Registration occurs online through the ParentVue online registration portal.
School Supply Kits: Order your student's school supply kits for the 2021-2022 school year.

Summer Reading Programs for Young Students
Summer Reading is back and students in K-5 have tons of opportunities to read and earn prizes this summer. K-5 can browse the slideshow https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1ckWyq7dwZ-7o9SuGO7V-nCmmO2O6yfqlH5JV_hkuqDY/edit?usp=sharing for information about public libraries, Scholastic and more. Students have access to the slides in their LMC Google Classroom.
Granger Middle School also has a summer reading program in which Young’s 5th grade students can participate.

2021-22 Distance Learning Application
A student may qualify for distance learning under the following circumstances:
- Student has a medical condition that places him/her at increased risk of serious illness.
- Student has special healthcare needs.
- Student lives with person/people at increased risk of serious illness.
To assist in our planning for next year, we are asking parents/guardians requesting distance learning for their student(s) to complete the form below by June 4, 2021. Forms should be returned to 204distancelearning@ipsd.org.
