After this week, the Office of Leadership Development will take a break hosting events until the start of the Spring semester in January 2015.

How many Diamond Leadership points have you earned? The Office of Leadership Development has hosted 28 programs thus far for the Fall 2014 semester, worth a total of 215 Diamond Leadership Points. Check Blackboard for your current status.
This newsletter includes information about additional outside leadership experiences. Though participating in outside leadership opportunities is encouraged, you will not receive Leadership Diamond points for these opportunities unless stated otherwise.

Exploring Leadership Speaker Series with Michelle Feldman
The Exploring Leadership Speaker Series features area leaders who truly live out the practices of exemplary leadership and offer inspiring leadership insights to our Temple community. The Office of Leadership Development partners with Dr. Tracey Weiss’ Strategic Communication 1112 course on the once-per-month series. Local communications speakers are brought into the classroom of 125-150 students to discuss a trend, topic, or experience pertaining to communications and leadership. The presentation is approximately 45 minutes, followed by a 10-15 minute Q & A.
The event is worth five Leadership Diamond points.
About out guest:
Michelle currently serves as Executive Director of Keep Philadelphia Beautiful (KPB), a nonprofit organization dedicated to community building through community greening. A proud affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, KPB is focused on litter abatement, waste reduction, and recycling education and promotion. Prior to her time at Keep Philadelphia Beautiful, Michelle served as Commercial Corridor Manager and Communications Director for the Frankford Community Development Corporation, where she primarily worked to assist small businesses along the Frankford Avenue commercial corridor as well as attract new ones to the area. Before entering the world of community and economic development in Philadelphia, Michelle spent the 2008 and 2010 election cycles working for two top tier political consulting firms specializing in media. A Philadelphia native, Michelle holds a B.A. in Political Science from Brandeis University, and a Masters in Public Policy from Drexel. Visit the YIP website for more information.

Easy Public Speaking for Developing Leaders
Join graduate extern Tyree Williams for a one-hour workshop which will focus on the basics of public speaking. This workshop is perfect for those interested in strengthening their ability to present themselves in a strong, clear, effective manner.
This workshop is worth five Leadership Diamond points.

Inclusive Leadership Conference
Registration opens for the Inclusive Leadership Conference on Dec. 1
The Inclusive Leadership Conference is a one-day conference hosted by Temple University for higher education professionals and students in the greater Philadelphia region. The schedule includes a large-group keynote address, followed by presentations, workshops, dialogues, and panels on different topics of inclusive leadership and social change.
The conference takes place, Saturday, February 14, 2015 from 9am-4pm in the Howard Gittis Student Center, Room 200. If you are interested in attending please register online at campusphilly.org/leadership.
