A Note From Mr. Davis
The Thank You gifts for our “Kids Heart Challenge” event have just arrived. We will be handing them out to the children in P.E. class over the next couple of weeks. Our sincere thanks to all who contributed to our school’s donation to the Heart Association of $7,450.00!
In P.E. class, grades 3-5th have begun their Track and Field unit. We will be training outside whenever possible, so kindly have your child appropriately dressed for the weather each day that they have P.E.. Dressing in layers is recommended.
Our “Wildcat Floor Hockey League” in A.S. Sports is off to another terrific start! The children are playing very well and, as always, are demonstrating excellent sportsmanship with teammates and opponents alike. Thank you to all of the parents who went above and beyond in providing the team t-shirts for the children. The shirts look great and the children love them! Lastly, thank you to all for your timely pickups each week at 4:50 pm. It is greatly appreciated!”
Testing Tips for Parents
While we take the assessments very seriously to ensure all protocols are followed, we try to dispel rumors or misunderstandings related to the PSSAs and the results. For example, some students think they will not advance to the next grade if proficiency is not met. That is simply not true. Some students think the score will reflect in their grades. Again, this is not true.
Some additional tips:
- Attempt to keep your morning routines the same. This normalcy decreases stress.
- Avoid scheduling appointments on testing days unless an emergency. Students benefit from testing with their classmates.
- We begin testing first thing in the morning and know that students can get frazzled if they are late or "behind" others. If you typically drive your student to school, please aim to arrive around 8:50 or a little earlier. This allows the student extra time to unpack and get settled and helps set a positive tone.
- Keep cell phones, SMART watches, and other electronic devices at home.
- If your student is absent, we arrange for make-up testing. Reassure your student it is just fine.
