Read the cactus quote. I love it! ! We certainly have been given a cactus with the digital dip in Keller ISD. However, you guys have refused to sit on it! Thank for adjusting and being flexible! You have shown creativity in going "old school" and creating "work arounds" so that the students' learning does not miss a beat. We would love to capture your ideas. Please send Laura and Casey pics of how you are coping!
Literacy Update
Dec. 4th - Fourth Grade District Writing Training
Once a month we will conduct a writing or reading response PLC protocol to measure our students growth and help support one another with our instruction. Our next one will be January 20th. Please bring a set of papers from each child that has gone through the entire writing process. (Brainstorming, Revising, Editing, Conferencing, and Final Copy)
December 10th Work with Kelly Leach: Bring a couple of your Jan Richardson guided reading lesson plan templates that you have taught (especially the ones you have questions about). Also, bring your questions about writing workshop and implementation.
January - Guided Reading Walkthroughs for support and feedback with Kelly Leach.
January 24th - Third grade district writing training
February - Writing Evidence Walkthroughs: These walkthroughs will be used to gather feedback on and celebrate how we are doing, so that we can continue to improve.
Spring - Kelly Leach will be scheduled to come out for support visits. You are always welcome to contact her and invite her out if you need additional support or have questions.

- Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) helps support all students by creating a school-wide positive, preventative, and instructional approach to discipline and behavior management. The district is moving toward a district-wide PBIS implementation. The initial training will be held on January 26th and 27th at Region 11. To start this process, we will be building a team to receive initial training and begin the conversation on campus-wide processes. We would like to have a rep from each grade level and a rep from the co-curr team. Please click here to submit your name, if you are interested. Sign ups need to happen ASAP, so we need to know by the 21st who will be going. Thank you!
- We need to collect the composition scores for the Writing Data Board and for the Campus Improvement Plan Data collection. We will come to your class to collect the data. Just have your blue literacy folders with the scored compositions on the corner of your desks or someone where we can get them without interrupting you. We will grab them, collect the data while we are in your class, and then place them back where we got them. (again, just have the blue folders available with the compositions...we will do the rest)
- Due to the technology challenges, we will extend the due date to next week on uploading data and completing the on-line Progress Monitoring. Tricia will help you with getting this complete.
- Be sure to give your Math Common Assessment this upcoming week. If you want to be able to analyze through AWARE get Casey the answer sheets ASAP. (this won't be an option if technology is still down)
- November 21st: Second Six Weeks Intervention Sheets due to Angelina - you may only have about three weeks worth of data and that is OK. You may scan in and send an email to Angelina (if tech is up) or provide her with a copy. Keep originals for your data notebook. We will continue to provide copies for each six weeks in the mailbox area if you choose to use one of those forms.
