Last Day of School Letter
Dear Mt Baldy School Families,
We are excited to be wrapping up a wonderful year of learning with your children. We’d like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere thank you for your support of your children’s learning experiences and of the school as a whole.
As we prepare to successfully end the school year, we ask you to read and follow the information below to assure your student has a safe and successful closure to the school year.
Our last day of school is on Thursday, June 23rd, and our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) has planned fun outdoor activies for our students. The purpose of this end of the year event is to provide an opportunity for the students who are currently attending our school to enjoy their last day together. A great deal of PTA funds and effort go into this event. In order to make sure that it is a safe and fun experience for our students and their school friends, only currently enrolled students and parents who are volunteering to work at the carnival will be permitted on campus.
Parent volunteers will be assisting with booths, activities and lunch. Teachers will be out monitoring students. If you have not had a chance to sign up to volunteer, please do so—the more help we get, the better the experience we can provide for our kids! Please make arrangements for older and younger mobile siblings to stay home so that you are able to attend fully to helping with the carnival activities.
On this last day of school, we will end at 1:05 PM. As with any other school day, it is important to note that students who normally use our bus services will be expected to take the bus home. Should there be any changes to this normal procedure such as how a child will leave school, get off at a different bus stop, or going home with any parent than yourself, parents must provide a signed, written note giving the name of the student, date, and providing the information as noted above. (You may use the sample written authorization note attached to the second page of this letter) This note must be delivered to the office first thing in the morning.
In order to ensure that all of our students are safe, please be aware that we will not be able to take a phone call or e-mail from a parent giving permission for their child to be released to another adult/parent, get off at a different stop, and/or walk. As an example, if you want your child to get off at a different stop, say Mesa, to join a designated adult at the Lodge, you will need to provide a signed note indicating a change in bus stop AND the name of the designated adult who will be meeting them at the bus stop.
Thank you, in advance, for your cooperation and willingness to work together with us to help keep all of our kids safe.
Wishing you the best of summers.
Sincerely,
Nancy Sirski

Current CDPH Guidelines and Exposure to COVID-19
Dear Mt. Baldy School Families:
There have been some questions about the current CDPH protocols for COVID 19 cases. Per CDPH April 6, 2022 Public Health Guidance for K-12 schools, individuals who are determined to have COVID are to stay home for five days from onset of symptoms or a positive test. Isolation may end on day 6 if symptoms have resolved. Returning individuals must wear a mask indoors and on the bus and practice spread prevention (washing hands) for an additional five days.
CDPH has adjusted the amount of time for isolation and quarantine for schools based upon what they have learned about periods of infection with the new strains and reduce the amount of time absent from school or work.
NOTIFICATION OF COVID-19 EXPOSURE
Dear Mt. Baldy School Families,
We would like to inform you that we have recently received information about a confirmed case of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in at least one person at Mt. Baldy School. At this time close contacts and the Department of Public Health have been notified. Cleaning and disinfecting of the exposed location have been completed. As the Coronavirus situation in our country and our community is developing quickly, we urge you to take necessary precautions to limit coronavirus spread in our community.
How You Can Help
Be proactive about reminding your child to reduce the number of interactions students and staff have with one another by wearing a face covering (optional) and avoiding touching others to limit the spread of the coronavirus. In addition to maintaining a safe space, another important tool to prevent the spread of coronavirus is to practice good hygiene. Important public health prevention messages include:
● Stay home when you are sick. Anyone with symptoms consistent with COVID 19 should contact their medical provider and if you test positive, remain at home in isolation
per CDPH guidelines.
● Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Sing the Happy Birthday song to help know when it has been 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizers that contain at least 60% alcohol.
● Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, and then dispose of the tissue and clean your hands immediately. If you do not have a tissue, use their sleeve, not your hands, to cover their coughs and sneezes.
● Limit close contact with people who are sick, and avoid sharing food, drinks, or utensils.
● Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipes.
● All students and staff with students must wear a mask or face covering while inside for five days, in a K-12 setting if returning from 5 day isolation. Masks are optional otherwise for all students and adults.
Public Health Actions
All confirmed cases should be isolated and close contacts quarantined per CDPH guidance from last exposure in order to prevent illness in new persons. “Close contact” means being a household member, intimate contact, or caregiver of a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 case; being within 6 feet of the confirmed or suspected COVID-19 case for more than 15 cumulative minutes in a 24 hour period of time, even if wearing a non-medical face covering; or having unprotected contact with the infected person’s body fluids and/or secretions, for example, being coughed or sneezed on.
Please note that all information, including the name(s) of ill persons, shared regarding any Public Health investigation is confidential in order to protect patient privacy.

Suicide Prevention Parent Information
An analogy that comes to mind is CPR training--we hope we never have to use it, but feel better in knowing that we have some basic skills should we ever need them -- and the more people who are trained, the better chances that there will be someone who can help if an event occurs.
Please click on the document below to learn about a free training for parent/guardians. We encourage you to attend this free online training.
