How did Pericles strengthen democracy?
He introduced reforms to help democracy, and he made a rule that made the city pay it's officials so that poor people can rule. That meant that new leaders could rise, no matter how rich or poor they where.

In the golden ages of Athens they where very wealthy and could afford to make new techology.
Athena
Athena was Athens patron goddess and was well respected and loved by them. she was the goddess of wisdom
The Greek gods.
The 12 Olympians, the Greek gods. They are know in Greece for their power, wisdom, and strength. Zeus was the leader of the gods. His wife was Hera, the goddess of marriage. Hades, the god of the underworld, and Poseidon was his brother as well. The 3 brothers where the most important of them all.

Natrual events
In ancient Greece, the gods where thought to cause natural, events such as tornadoes, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Philosophers like Socrates started to have new ideas about these events.
Socrates
Socrates was a philosopher who told new ideas and taught many students. Sadly, he was forced to drink a cup of hemlock, for he had done a crime of corrupting young men and women. He had sat in a square, telling others about his ideas, and puzzling many.
Plato
Plato was Socrates's student, who mistrusted democracy after Socrates's death. He wrote "The republic", a book about that said society should be made up of three groups, workers, soldiers and philosopher-rulers. Plato made his own school to teach others
Religion, Philosophy and the Arts
Comedies
Comedies where silly plays that made fun of the well-know citizens, and politicians in Athens.
Drama
The Drama, or plays in Athens where ranging in many ways. They help the Greeks write better and where entertainment
Tragedy
Tragedy is a serious story that usually ends in a disaster for the main character.
The Parthenon
The Parthenon was a temple to Athena, the Greek goddess of Athens. This temple was very inportant to them because Athena was their patron goddess, and if they didn't respect her, she would make terror and misery go to their city-state.
The arts.
Well, the greeks used the arts everywhere! Temples, Homes, Chariots, about anything you could see. Plays used that arts and made people smile, laugh or cry.
