Johnnie Ray
"One of the best singers out there"
Johnnie Ray
Johnnie Ray was born in Dallas, Oregon on January 10, 1927. He was the second of Elmer and Hazel Ray.
Jonnie was most popular in the 1950's. He was well known for his emotional singing and his piano music.
Johnnie impressed his friends and family by performing for them at a very young age. Johnnie became deaf in his right ear at the age of 13. It happened when he and the Boy Scouts were playing blanket toss {their version of the trampoline} and they lost their grip when Johnnie was in the air and then a piece of straw went up his right ear and he immediately became deaf in that ear. He tried to keep it secret, but his parents found out.
