RSVP
Dear Parents,
If you are planning to attend our holiday party on Wednesday, Dec 15, please fill out this RSVP form and we will do our best to print a visitor sticker for you.
All parents who have not visited the school this year, will need to be added to our Raptor system before visiting. This can take some time.
SO IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN A VISITOR AT LTE THIS YEAR, PLEASE STOP BY THE OFFICE SO WE CAN SCAN YOUR DRIVER'S LICENSE OR I.D. SOME TIME BEFORE THE PARTY DAY.
All grade level parties will be held on the same day, December 15th. To ensure smooth transitions, minimize cost and maximize safety, we ask that everyone adhere to the following procedures:
- We are excited to have immediate family members attend, but please keep in mind that class parties are planned for students only. The room moms are working closely with teachers to provide just enough treats and fun for the students in each classroom. There won't be enough to share with siblings or other family members.
- If your child has a sibling in different grade level(s) they only attend their own parties. Teachers will not release students to attend parties in a different grade level.
- After parties, students will not be released to anyone but a parent or guardian. If you want your child to go home with someone other than a parent or guardian, teachers must have advance notice in writing prior to the party.

Lost and found
Is your student missing a jacket? Lunchbox? Water bottle?
Lake Travis Elementary will be placing the Lost & Found Rack outside of the school the day of the parties (wheatear permitted) or at the entrance of the school.
A good way to prevent losing your child’s items is to write your child’s name in their coats and other belongings with a permanent marker, our staff checks the lost and found and will return those items that have a students' name written in them, by taking this measure you can prevent losing your child’s possessions.
All items will be donated before Winter Break and before the end of the school year, so be sure to check frequently.
We Love Our Volunteers
- Be a WATCH D.O.G.S. Get a glimpse of a day in the life of LTE staff members and students. We can always use an extra set of eyes and ears on campus. And the kids love seeing dads in the building.
- Be a mentor and meet with a student or two once a week. Build a positive relationship with a child and witness a multitude of benefits for both you and an LTE student.
- Be a tutor. Many of our students would benefit from a little extra help.
- Be a lunch monitor. Our cafeteria is a very busy place. Just 30 minutes for each grade level.
- Join PTA and volunteer to help in the Holiday Shop or send a few treats to school for teachers.
- Be a librarian's aide. Those books are stacking up and Ms. Halprin always needs help shelving books.
- Be a guest reader in the classroom or a literacy partner and read to your child's class or with individual students.
If you or someone you know would like to volunteer at LTE, please contact our campus Volunteer Coordinator, Alys Moore at moorea@ltisdschools.org, or GW Byers, Community Relations Liaison, at byersg@ltisdschools.org. Or you can call Ms. Byers at 512-533-6099. Ms. Moore can be reached at 512-533-6355.

Parent/Teacher Communication
At Lake Travis Elementary, we encourage the following effective communication strategies:
- Initiation: Teachers initiates contact as soon as they know which students will be in their classroom for the school year. Parents and teachers also initiate contact when there is good news and appreciation to report. A little positive feedback goes a long way toward building positive relationships.
- Timeliness: Contact (parents to teachers and/or teachers to parents) should be made soon after a problem has been identified or a concern arises. This will facilitate a timely solution, Waiting too long can create new problems.
- Consistency and frequency: Parents want ongoing feedback about how students are progressing and teachers want feedback regarding any concerns parents or students may have. Again, positive thoughts and observations are also a great way to build a positive relationship with teachers and the school in general.
- Follow-through: Parents and teachers each want to see that the other will actually do what they say they will do.
- Clarity: Parents and teachers should have the information they need to help students in school and at home.
Texas is experiencing the worst staff shortages ever experienced in our state. This, on top of the stress of educating children during a pandemic, has created very difficult working conditions. But despite all of their struggles, teachers come to school everyday with the mindset of success. They come to work prepared to do the best they can to provide a great education for all of our students.
If something doesn't seem right, your child's teacher should be the first point of contact. LTE teachers want to know so they can take action and provide clarity. We all want to help. But we can't do our best if we don't know there is a concern and teachers need to be the first to know.
Lake Travis Elementary is blessed to have such an amazing staff and school community working together to provide the best education possible for our students. Together, we can do anything.
