Early Life

John Smith birthday was January 1580 at Willoughby, United Kingdom. His father died when John was only 16. After John's father death John left the house to set off the sea.


He was the first English explorer to map out the Chesapeake Bay and New England. John Smith was the leader of the Virginia Colony and also was the leader of a exploration along the river of Virginia and the Chesapeake Bay.
