Math Magic
This week we took some time to look back and review concepts from previous units. We finished our End of Year Test this week as a cumulative assessment for our year. Although we have finished the EDM units of study, we will be using math time to continue to practice skills and concepts that will be the foundation of 4th grade math.
Building a READING LIFE
This week in Reading we read and reread important pieces of text while doing research. When rereading, we asked ourselves why the author decided to include this particular information.
We then took our research to the next level and widened our level of focus- focusing on how our topics relate to Geology.
Next week the students will work with their group to decide what information they want to prepare and present to the class.
Word Study
Writing long & strong
This week in writing we finished drafting our Persuasive Pieces in CURSIVE. We also practiced presenting them as they will be filming their speeches.
Next week we begin Part 2 of our Fairy Tale Writing Unit.
We will work on this unit until the end of the year when we will join with our Buddy Class to celebrate Fairy Tales!
Plants
This week in science students learned about the different kinds of bees. They are worker bees, drone bees, and the queen bee. We identified the characteristics of each kind of bee, and what jobs they have. Students also learned about the parts of a bee, and the function of each part.
Next week students will continue to make observations of their plants as they experience changes and near the end of their life cycles.
Looking to next week...
* No school on Monday!!!
* Field Day Friday!!
Cursive
We are practicing using all we know about forming cursive letters.
