WINTER IS COMING - BE PREPARED
This Week's Forecast
All students are required to go outside each day for recess. Students should come to school with a winter coat, hat, boots, mittens and snow pants.
All items need to be labeled - Especially snow pants and boots. All black snow pants look alike to both students and adults - that's why snow pants NEED to be labeled! Students will leave their boots in the hallway every day. They will need an additional pair of shoes for the classroom. As the snow starts flying, make sure to dry out gloves and snow pants each night when your child arrives home.
Please support your child and help them practice learning how to put on their own winter gear for outdoor play. Students NEED to learn how to put on their own winter clothing and zip their own jacket. This is part of teaching independence. Time does not allow for the teachers to put on each child's coats, boots, mittens, etc.

STRONG RECOMMENDATION
Students should have their coat and mittens washed at least every other weekend. With the young age of our students, it is very common for them wipe their nose on their gloves or coat. Consistent washing of these items will cut down on germs in the building. Now is a good time to clean out those backpacks too.
Send Extra Clothing!
It never fails - we have more potty accidents the first two weeks of snow pant season, than any other time of the year. Even if you think your child would never have an accident at school, we still recommend sending extra clothing. Students are not aware of how long it takes to maneuver the extra winter clothing when they urgently need to use the bathroom.
Please send an extra pair of pants and underwear in your student's backpack. We can not stress enough how important this is. We do not have enough clothes on hand to make all the necessary changes that comes with the first few weeks of winter.
Also - many of our students do have an extra change of clothes in their backpacks, however, they still have summer clothing from the start of school. Take a look tonight and change out those shorts for long pants!
Cold Weather Policies
ALSO - Students are NOT allowed to stay inside more than one day without a note from the Dr stating they need to be inside. Students are outside for less than 15 minutes at a time. If a child is too sick to go outside for recess, they are too sick to be in school and should be kept home.
