The Compass 8/23/2021
Arbor View Elementary
8/23/21-8/27/21
Mission - Arbor View will engage all children in learning experiences to establish a foundation for success
Vision - To ensure the growth and development of all learners
From The Office
Arbor View Families,
As we get into the swing of Walking Club - a few things to consider and remember:
*All K-5 students that are dropped off between 7:55 and 8:08 should be dropped off at the main entrance and will join walking club. At 8:08, the Arbor View staff member out front will have students enter the building directly.
*We have adults supervising outside - so when you drop off your student, we will get them walking, lined up, and back in the building.
*No students will be allowed to play on the playground during this time - no preschool or K-5.

COVID-19 Safety Protocols
Screening at home
Parents will screen their children at home for fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea.
Consult a medical professional if symptomatic as necessary.
Students do not report to school if symptomatic
Dismissal
You may have noticed that Douglas County Sheriffs were present at Friday's dismissal. They are keeping an eye on the street parking taking place on 208th just to the west of the school. Please do not park there during dismissal.
PLEASE STAY IN YOUR CAR IN THE DROP-OFF LANE (RIGHT LANE). We have adults who will help get your child to you. Getting out slows down the process and creates potential safety hazards.
Grade levels will exit in the following format:
PreK - exit door #2 at 11:30 and 3:30
Kindergarten - exit door #2
1st Grade - exit through the main entrance
2nd Grade - exit through the main entrance
3rd Grade - exit door #14
4th Grade - exit door #14
5th Grade - exit door #10
Adults that are in the pick-up lane will be asked to remain in their vehicle. Please pull all the way forward in line to maximize the number of vehicles that can be loaded in the pick-up lane. Parents and families that walk to pick up their child(ren) from school should maintain social distancing of 3 feet while on school grounds.
As always please inform your child's teacher of your dismissal plans. It is really important that we know where kids go and who they go with after school.
Expectations...Explorers are Safe, Respectful and Responsible
Arbor View Families,
We would like to review the school-wide Explorer Path that we will be using again this year at Arbor View. Our expectations at Arbor View are that all of our students are safe, responsible, and respectful in all areas of the building.
Each child will start their day on green, “Ready to Explore” each day. Throughout the day, children will be asked to move up or down on the path according to their actions. Children who move up on our Explorer Path will earn tickets to be entered into a classroom and monthly school-wide drawing. If a child makes improved choices after moving down, they will be given a chance to move back up.
At the end of the day, children will document their level on the path. How this is communicated will depend on a child’s grade level.
Outstanding (Purple)- This is reserved for extraordinary behavior, and will not be given out loosely. We want this to remain special; please don’t expect your child to reach this level daily. Children who reach this level will earn two tickets and will be nominated for a yard sign drawing.
Way to Go (Blue) –Children move to blue for making positive choices, trying their best, and showing good character. This is a good level to end the day on! Children who reach this level will earn one ticket.
Ready to Explore (Green)- Our expectation is that all Explorers will remain at green or above. This means they are being safe, responsible, and respectful.
Warning: Make a Better Choice (Orange)- Children move to this level as a reminder that they need to follow school-wide expectations.
Think About It (Pink)- Children who move to pink have continued to struggle with their choices. These students will fill out a Think Sheet to reflect on their actions. Any Think Sheets will need to be signed by a parent or guardian and returned to school the following day. Students at this level may also be referred to the office for severe or repetitive behaviors.
We look forward to a great year. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s classroom teacher if you have any questions.
Thank you in advance for all of your help this year!
