Mrs. Terrell-Maarg’s class focuses on kindness and being welcoming to other people. Her class is helpful, kind, and caring. And she got them to that point by just being helpful. You might think that her class got to the point real fast, but that was not how it worked out at all. You see, it takes so long to get the class to get there. And a fact about the class is that the class loves baby Yoda.

In Science, we are making cars out of empty tissue boxes. The wheels are made out of cardboard boxes which we hot glued to the axel. It took us a while to make the cars, and then we tried to make the cars move. First, we tried with a balloon. For some people, it worked, and for some, it didn’t work. And then we tried with rubber bands. Almost the whole class's cars worked with rubber bands! Then our teacher brought an empty egg tray to make an egg racer chair. Then we put a plastic egg in our car. And that was a good project, and everyone loved it!

Graphic Novels

Our class has been working on graphic novels, both informative and fictional. We did this on Book Creator. We learned about Emanta, onomatopoeia, panels, gutters, captions, and much more. We also learned about showing, not telling. We Can do this by showing their actions or body language. Emanata is showing emotion. Onomatopoeia is like a sound word. Panels are spaces in the page, and gutters show how much time has passed. Captions are narrations. Showing not telling is like evidence they are acting a certain way without telling them, like blushing, perspiration. In informational graphic novels are pretty similar, except for it is something that happened or just information about a topic you like. She loves baby Yoda!

Writing About Our Reading

In combined literacy, we are learning about characters. The challenge was to fill a page of quotes, pictures, traits, and other information about our characters. We also needed to prove those traits. She said we needed to make them as colorful as possible. Mrs. Terrel Maharg is reading us a book called The Giver. She also made a poster as an example. The main character is Jonas. On the poster she didn’t color him all the way to show he

was only starting to see color.

In math, we are doing decimal and fractions! We are times fractions like 2/4 + 2/4 = 4/4 and decimals like what 20 cents in decimal are 0.20 also we are adding decimals like .135 + .15 = .240 also on Wednesday we got a quiz! Every day we are done with a math assignment. We do Dreambox. We have to finish 5 assignments then we do Prodigy. Prodigy is so fun! Everyone in our class is waiting for a new math unit. We do not know what the new math unit is! The last unit was area and perimeter. The last last unit was feet and yards.

In reading, we worked in book clubs. Our class is pretty immersed most time. My book club was reading the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Mrs. Terell-Maharg plans good reading activities.
