Miss Courtney's Class
This week..
We have changed up our smoothie routine in class. We are now splitting the class into 2 small groups. One group does smoothies while the other works on using scooter boards. We spend about 15 minutes in each group before we switch. During both activities we are working on following directions, and different sensory components. While we make smoothies we are touching, smelling, and tasting the frozen fruit. We are using our fine motor skills to scoop and pour in the ingredients. We working on communicating with our peers and teachers as well as academic skills like counting, and naming colors. During scooter boards we are improving on our gross motor skills, and different safety components. Another bonus is that we are leaving the classroom. We are recognizing that we are part of a school and a community of learners outside of just our classroom family. Working in these smaller groups has lessened the noise and distractions making it easier to concentrate and participate. We are loving this focused time with your kids!
We were lucky enough to visit a Planetarium this week too! We sent a video on Monday, I hope you all got a chance to look at it. It was a little scary going in at first, but once we all got inside of the starlit dome we relaxed and loved the experience! It was totally dark at first. Then the presenter lit up the sky ceiling and taught of about the planets and our solar system! SO cool.
