February 2024 at Tree of Hope Counseling
A Note from Pete🌳
Human rights and dignity for all, is a vital to bringing lasting peace, kindness and mental health to all of us, our families and the community. February is Black History Month and a time to celebrate the fullness of African American history. It is a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history and culture. This year’s theme is African Americans and art. Artwork that is infused with African, Caribbean, and the Black American lived experiences. It is interesting to note that Black history is not unique to the United States, other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating Black history. Please join me in taking time to participate in an activity or event to recognize and celebrate this vibrant history and on-going efforts to create a community that embraces diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.

Trauma Stewardship: Professional Development Group
Feeling helpless and hopeless, chronic guilt, anger and cynicism, inability to empathize or listen, numbing and grandiosity aren’t just symptoms of burn-out; they’re indications of traumatic exposure. As personal and professional loads continue to rise during these increasingly complex times, it’s important for therapists and care providers to develop communities of care. Counter to the concept of individual responsibility in “self-care,” trauma-stewardship asks us: how is our work sustainable, and how can we support each other?
This professional development group offers a journey for eight participants with the intent of developing skills and practices together to address the systemic and interpersonal challenges of stewarding trauma within ourselves and our clients.
Interested folks can complete this brief questionnaire and Asha will follow up with them within 3 business days.
