Cork Young Filmmakers, with Lightbulb Youth Theatre and CDYS Mallow, bring you this fun, challenging and exciting programme designed for young aspiring filmmakers who want to learn from professionals and develop good team working skills. This is just a one day workshop but you will get to see what's involved in making films - participants get a basic grounding in film making techniques and equipment, and produce a basic short film. It is packed with every aspect of hands on film making with professional film makers. Cork Young Filmmakers programme runs a range of courses throughout County Cork, focusing on young people, with excellent teachers and professional equipment.

One Day Workshop for Young Filmmakers

Saturday, Nov. 7th, 10am-4:30pm

The Big Blue Cube, CDYS, Mallow, Co. Cork.

Would you like a chance to develop your skills and experience in front of and behind the camera? This workshop is about having fun, learning new skills and building confidence. We provide the training, equipment and hands on creative and technical support to young people who also learn about themselves and about working in groups. As this training is subsidised by Cork County Council, places cost just €10 and will go quickly.

You will script your own drama, shoot the scenes, act, direct and crew a short film under the guidance of professional filmmakers from Cork Film Centre.

Applications are now open. No experience is necessary, but early booking is essential as places are strictly limited. Places will be offered on a ‘first come’ basis and are strictly limited to 12. Places cost just €10 thanks to support from Cork County Council, CDYS Mallow and Lightbulb Youth Theatre.

Cork Young Filmmakers (CYF), based in County Cork, is an Irish not-for-profit organisation that was established in 2006. It is the training sister company to First Cut! Youth Film Festival.

With Cork Film Centre support CYF is County Cork’s leading provider of practical filmmaking programmes to young people aged 12–21. This year we work with over 300 young people from all over the county- Castletownbere to Youghal to Kanturk and lots of places in between!

We work with schools, clubs and youth and arts organisations all over the county. First Cut! Festival is the only dedicated youth film festival in the County and will take place in April 21-23, 2016.
