Meet Your School Counselors!
Ralston Middle School 2019-2020
6th Grade Counselor: Jenifer Heck, M.Ed., PPSC
I am beginning my first year at RMS and I am ready to help our incoming 6th grade students successfully transition to middle school. I recently relocated to the Bay Area from Fresno where I was born and raised. I have worked in education for 20+ years having held positions ranging from college, high school and middle school levels. I am passionate about junior high as I see it as the perfect age to assist young scholars in developing good habits to help lay the foundations for success. I attended UC Santa Barbara, earned a degree in Law and Society and though I planned on attending law school, I felt called to work as a counselor. I began my career as a high school ELD teacher and Coordinator and went on to earn my Masters in Educational Counseling with a PPS credential. I have an 18 year old daughter named Katherine, and a supportive extended family in Fresno and Baja Mexico. We enjoy snow skiing, traveling to the family beach house in Mexico, crafting and DIY projects.
7th Grade Counselor: Lauren Rocha, MA, PPSC
Hello Ralston Rams! I am ecstatic to be part of your team this year. After two years working at The Wellness Center at Henry M. Gunn High School, I am excited to begin my first role as a credentialed school counselor. One of my biggest passions is supporting student mental health and working on initiatives that reduce the stigma around mental health that many people face. I will be supporting all 7th grade students this year. During my free time I love to exercise, camp, and try new foods. My family is a big part of my life and I enjoy spending time traveling with them when I can. I grew up on a farm in Hilmar, California and would love to tell you more about it when we meet in person. Wishing you the best school year!
