The Manning Weekly Newsletter
April 10, 2020
Dear Families,
As our staff works to refine our remote learning practices, we hope that you will take a moment to complete THIS SURVEY regarding your student's experience so far. We are also gathering their feedback; please encourage them to fill out the student survey in their grade level group in Google Classroom.
If you have any questions or additional feedback, or even if you'd just like to say hello in this crazy time, please don't hesitate to call me at 720.445.5324. I look forward to connecting with you.
Thanks, as always, for sharing your kids with us. It is our honor to serve them.

Online Learning "Bell" Schedule
Students: Having trouble finishing an assignment? We're here to help!
If you're having trouble getting an assignment completed, here are some additional supports we have in place:
- Reach out to your teacher and let them know you're working on it. They will count you present and work with you on a due date that's manageable.
- Check your emails! The front office staff will email students directly if they've missed something with an offer to help. If you respond to that email, we'll know they're working on school, mark you present, and get you the support you need!

8th Grade Continuation Update
Continuation will begin with an 8th Grade Slideshow. We would love pictures of your 8th grader as babies and toddlers, as middle schoolers, hanging with their friends, playing sports, singing in choir, etc. If you're willing to share them, please put them in THIS DROPBOX!
Also, as we know how important it is to give our incredible 8th graders the chance to say goodbye to one another before they head to high school, we have rescheduled the 8th Grade Picnic at Maple Grove Park to Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 10am. We hope you'll join us!

Solo and Ensemble, April 18
Solo and Ensemble (scheduled for April 18) has been cancelled. Mr. Miller will refund registration fees by the end of the school year.
Vocal Pops Concert
Vocal Pops concert has gone virtual! Students in choir and Images should be receiving instructions in the next week or so regarding the recording of some of their pops music. They will need to video themselves singing their parts to a pre-recorded track. The instructions will be specific and they will submit to a company called EnsembleVids. If they do not follow directions completely, their video may not be included in the final project. Mrs. Mendez is also working on other videos for them and will communicate those requests as well. Although they will not have the opportunity to perform live, we believe this will be a nice keepsake of their work.
Parents and guardians, please fill out the following permission form to allow your student to participate in the virtual choirs. This must be complete by Friday, April, 10, 2020 for your student to participate. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfbcuAfcdIIkn1AwcNnlGoV-ZSLBkld81yAHUP5-b2bUlP9SA/viewform?usp=sf_link
Band and Orchestra Pops Concert
Our spring instrumental pops concert has been cancelled. Instead, students will be asked to record a video of a live performance for their family. Mr. Miller is also exploring the logistics of coordinating a virtual band/orchestra performance. Details will be announced on Schoology.
Jazz Band and Guitar Performance
Our spring Jazz Band and Guitar performance has been cancelled. For their final performance, students will be asked to record a video of a performance at home for their family. Details will be announced to students on Schoology.
Willy Wonka Jr. Performance
Although Willy Wonka Jr. has been cancelled in May, we are hoping to reschedule our dress rehearsals and performances in July. As soon as we have direction from the school district regarding summer events, we will communicate dates. We will need to have some rehearsals, a dress rehearsal, and costume fittings before the performance. Thank you to our parents who have reached out to help us with sets, props, etc. during this time. If you are interested in helping create costumes, props or sets, please contact Shawna Mendez at smendez@jeffco.k12.co.us
Manning Music Boosters
We are starting a music booster program! This will be an organization of parents and community members who help coordinate volunteers, raise funds, and provide other support for the Manning Music Department. If you are interested in being on the board of our potential Manning Music Boosters, please contact Babette Norton at ManningPerformingArtsBoosters@gmail.com
Summer Theater
If you have registered for summer theater, we are postponing the event. We are hoping to move this camp to July but are waiting on district guidance. If we can’t make this camp happen this summer, we will look at moving it to Winter Break, Spring Break, crediting families for next summer, offering the chance to make a donation or refunding fees.
Disney Trip (Choir)
Images and other select choir members have been invited to sing at Disney World on the Disney Springs stage over President’s Day weekend 2021. In light of the recent events, we are pausing on this trip for now. If appropriate, we will resume planning in the fall.
Twin Day!
A message from our PTA!
The Manning PTA is thinking about the students, families, and staff of Manning. Please stay safe, take care of yourselves, and be good to one another!
Please watch for notices regarding Staff Appreciation in the next few days. It will look a little different this year, but it’s not a stretch to say that we’re all the more appreciative of our teachers now that we’re experiencing more of what they do every day!
The April General Meeting will be on the morning of Tuesday, April 21st. We would love to have you join us for our virtual meeting. Details to follow.
Please email us at manningmiddlepta@gmail.com if you have any questions.
