The Manning Weekly Newsletter
February 21, 2020
Dear Families,
The Manning PTA is excited to announce our first annual BBQ to welcome our new 20/21 families! Please join current Manning families, teachers and staff on Thursday, April 23rd at 6:00 pm (immediately following the Meet and Greet for incoming students) as we enjoy delicious BBQ and live music.
Not only will this be a great opportunity for Manning to mingle, this event will also be raising funds to replace our vintage auditorium seats. Truly a win/win for our community! Tickets will be available for purchase soon and will include a BBQ dinner (GF and vegetarian options will be available) and live music. $20/adult, $10/child. All current and incoming families are encouraged to attend. We hope to see you there!
Thanks, as always, for sharing your kids with us. It is our honor to serve them.

Word Wonder Celebration!
Word Wonder/Vocabulary classes have been exploring root words! And, this week, we became
lexicographers and created 2 new words.
Our goal is to make them "real" by using them,
so please join us in using these new words:
- antilogy: (noun) a dislike of studying. The students felt antilogy and refused to do homework.
- phoboscopic: (adj.) having a fear of being looked at. The phoboscopic gentleman avoided posting pictures online.
Elective Requests for 2020-2021
In February, our current 6th and 7th graders will be selecting the electives they'd like to take next school year.
We got feedback from many of you last year that you would like the opportunity to be more involved in that process. Because we agree that your input is an important part of making sure each student has a schedule that will help them grow and thrive and explore their interests, we are going to try a new elective request process this year.
Please take some time to talk with your students about their elective choices. You can find our Course Descriptions HERE.
- 7th graders will need to bring their signed elective request form with them on Friday, February 21. During HEART, they will put their elective requests into our electronic system.
- 6th graders will need to bring their signed elective request form with them on Monday, February 24. During HEART, they will put their elective requests into our electronic system.
We will send a reminder email the day before they complete the elective request process. Please let me know if you have any questions.
From our PTA!
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Conference dinners for our staff today! We sincerely appreciate your help.
Please join us for our February General meeting on Tuesday, February 18th at 8:30 am in the library. We hope to see you there!
The PTA will soon be looking for officers for the 2020/21 school year. Please carefully consider whether you would like to serve on the PTA either as a board member or committee chairperson. If you have any questions about this or any matter, please contact us at manningmiddlepta@gmail.com.
