Thought for the Week: Problem Solving Tips From the Student's Perspective
"Education is one of the most important things in the world, but at most schools, students are told to memorize facts, formulas, and functions without any applicability to the real challenges we will face later. Instead, give us challenges; give us problems that focus on real-world scenarios; give us a chance to understand the world we’re entering and to be prepared for it before we’re thrown in headfirst."

PBS Focus in December
Brags and Awesomeness!!
Our Scholastic Book Fair was a success! Our total sales were $7,355.51. We earned $3,407.80 in Scholastic Dollars plus a reward of $340.78 which totals $3,748.58. Students and teachers received a total of $745.46 in merchandise from the fair. Thanks for your support of our Fall Book Fair. We will host a Buy One, Get One Fair in the May.
A positive from our Positive Referrals-
Last month we had 131 positive student referrals. This was up by 11 from the previous month. On the opposite side, we had 77 regular office referrals which was down by 10 from last month. Keep it up! We are seeing great results in accentuating the positive!
Star Staff for the Week- be sure to use your Reserved Space for Parking!
This week I wanted to take time to thank to of our Staff members that I have noticed the positive they are bringing to our building in small and big ways.
Beth Sander is taking over as one of our PBS Coaches, and works with the rest of the team to provide weekly reminders and catchy tunes to help us remember or weekly focus! Thank you for the work you put into this extra hat you wear.
Becky Mann has been flexible and assisted with our transition over to our Student ID's and assist every morning to assure our Bag of Breakfast is successful. This extra help is a tremendous gift each morning to our Cafeteria/Recess Aides. Becky also heads up our Santa Store each year and puts in extra weekend hours to be sure it is a success. Thank you Becky for your dedication.
Staff Updates
ID Badges Breakfast and Lunch-- we will not replace any lost ID's; students will have to be keyed in as we have done before; inform students of this and that they will need to let Mrs. Head or Mrs. Mann know they lost it.
Students that come in later in the morning to avoid them being late will be asked to go straight to the breakfast line and get their food. This way they are not even later to class.
Car Rider and the Pick up lines will have cones placed outside of the gym side to deter people from passing by other cars on the right side; this has been communicated to parents in our newsletter as well as an email from Mr. Samuel. If you see any reckless driving or passing please report the incident to Mr. Samuel and/or myself. Try to get the plates info and we will report this to Officer Hopper.
