eLearning Update!
Dear parents and guardians,
This year, LCSC will utilize eLearning days in the event of emergency closings. The next LCSC school closure due to weather will be an eLearning Day. Please read the information below so your family is prepared.
In October, we conducted a district-wide practice eLearning day. This experience allowed students and staff to practice accessing lesson materials on Canvas, our learning management system.
If you have not already done so, we invite you to review the information available at http://www.leb.k12.in.us/eLearning, including:
- LCSC eLearning Guide
- Information for Students
- Information for Families including how to access the eLearning HelpDesk during the eLearning Day.
- 1:1 Device Resources
- Public Wifi Availability
We recommend that students complete eLearning activities on school-issued devices. The five-day window to complete eLearning assignments does allow for flexibility in the event that your child’s device is at school or your family does not have Internet access at home.
Elementary parents only: Prior to taking home a device, students must have a device use agreement form signed. This can be completed in Skyward Family Access. While LCSC respects each family’s decisions regarding student device usage at home, we are committed to providing technology to support blended instruction throughout the school year as well as on weather related eLearning Days. Families requesting that students leave devices at school should make plans to complete the eLearning day on a personal device or at some point during the five-day window. Please understand that apps and features may not function the same on personal devices, and we are unable to support this from the eLearning day Help Desk.
Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you are concerned about accessibility, or contact us if you have additional questions.

On Tuesday November 19, thousands of public school teachers, as well as public school advocates including parents and community leaders, will participate in a rally organized by the Indiana State Teachers Association. This rally provides a platform to challenge current legislation negatively affecting our public schools. A large number of our teachers will be using a personal business day to participate.
The number of absences does not allow LCSC to staff our schools at a level necessary to maintain appropriate levels of supervision and instruction. Therefore, LCSC will not hold a regular student instructional day on November 19. Students should not report on this day. November 19 will now be a Professional Development Day for our faculty and staff.
We will make up the November 19 instructional day on Monday, March 16. This was a previously scheduled Professional Development Day. Students will now be required to attend school on March 16.
We understand that this change may impact your family’s schedule. We are hopeful that this advance notice will assist families in making necessary arrangements. B.A.S.E. will provide full day childcare for current B.A.S.E. families at Hattie B. Stokes Elementary School. Details will be shared from B.A.S.E. with these families.
