STEM Unit Update
Evansdale Eagles are Engineering all sorts of amazing solutions. 1st grade students designed and made instruments using recyclable materials. They also used the 3D printer to create different types of instruments.
STEM Lab Update
The STEM Team has been hard at work organizing resources in the STEM lab. All classrooms will have activities in the STEM lab this semester, and resources are available to all teachers. Some of our 2nd grade classes visited the STEM lab and learned about an aeroponic system of growing plants without soil.

Parent Tool #2 - Involvement & Communication
There is also evidence that shows positive communication between parents and teachers helps improve academic performance. Ongoing communication with your child's teacher is essential to make sure he/she can tailor his/her approach to your child. The best way to contact staff is via email. Email addresses can be found at evansdaleees.dekalb.k12.ga.us . You may also write a note to the teacher in your student's agenda or send one in to school with your student in the morning.
Parents Still Needed to Complete Survey
The Georgia Parent Survey is modeled after the student survey and contains 24 questions. Parents may complete the survey using their personal computer, smartphone or tablet. All parents are encouraged to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey because the data will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.
The Georgia Parent Survey is also available in Spanish. Parents may select the Spanish version within the survey. Results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the public and will not be posted online. The Georgia Parent Survey link is posted below.

2018 Father + Daughter Dance
Calling all dads ...please make plans to attend The 2018 Evansdale Elementary Father+Daughter Dance, Saturday, February 10th. A formal invite will be sent home in your daughter's courier tomorrow. Ticket prices are $18 per family, no matter how many girls a dad brings. In addition, EvansDads have made arrangements with a local florist for dads to present their girls with a rose and baby’s breath and to wear a boutonniere themselves, if they wish. Flower prices are the florist’s list prices for the Valentine’s week. The flowers will be given out at the dance. Deadline for turning in ticket, flower/boutonniere requests and payment is Monday, January 29th. Tickets will be sent home the week of February 5th. The location of the dance is in the cafeteria at Evansdale Elementary School from 2 p.m. till 4 p.m.
Please let us know if you would like to volunteer. Many dads will be 'retiring' this year with the graduation of their daughters and we would like to keep the tradition going. Teachers and Administration are invited to join us as well!
