Titan Staff Update
Week of September 14
Titans,
A big THANK YOU for all your hard work, preparation and dedication to our first Open House night of the school year. I spoke with many parents who were impressed with how smoothly this school year has started and the communication they have received from the staff. Positive communication goes a long ways and can help build strategic rapport with our community.
As we enter our 4th week of school, I challenge to you reflect upon the relationships you've built with your students. Could there possibly be a student you have not connected with? If so, how can you make that connection this week? Our goal is for every student to feel as though they have an adult in the building who's "got their back" and has taken a vested interest in them. You all are the best staff I have seen at building relationships....so get out there and build!
Sincerely,
Kim

Important Information
- PSAT is coming for all 8th grade students in Oct. Watch for additional information from T Harris.
- Save the Date! Our first general PTA meeting will be Sept 17th at 6pm in the library.
- When submitting lesson plans in Google, be sure to save them as a Google doc and not a Word doc. If you're submitting as a Word doc, we are unable to provide feedback to you.
- Log your #titansread books here We have logged a total of 156 books thus far! Keep up the reading!
- Take a moment to check out the @Tidwell_MS twitter feed. Last night 2 iSchool Advocates took the reins and shared what Open House looked like through their eyes. Technology can be a powerful tool when put into our students hands with the trust and expectation they will perform.
- For those pursuing further education....Texas PTA offers $500 scholarships to teachers. Head over to the Texas PTA webpage for additional information.

Sweatin' in the PLCs
This week in your PLCs you will focus on improving teacher effectiveness by using a simple protocol to debrief your focused walk-throughs from this past week. Your PLC leaders and APs are prepared to guide you through this process. I will also be roving through the PLCs and I must admit I can't wait to see you process this information! The key to using walk through data as a tool in PLCs is to ensure that what you learn translates into every classroom. What that means is we all have something to learn and improve on. Use this as a time to impact your students in ways you may have not thought of before.
This PLCS is focused on improving instruction and there is no better place to learn from one another than Tidwell MS!
