Mrs. Dunn's 2nd Grade Art Class Wishes all a Happy Thanksgiving!
No School During Thanksgiving Break November 21 - 25
Dear Tiger families:
Especially at this time of year, I reflect on my many blessings.
Having an opportunity to work with so many fine families, staff members, and students is at the top of that long list. Thank you for so warmly welcoming me to the West Cypress Hills family.
We are very fortunate at West Cypress to have such strong support from our families, our Literacy Partners, our fabulous PTO, our many volunteers, and our generous and caring community members. Thank you, all, for working with us to help our Tigers to be successful learners.
We are greatly blessed by the many learning resources made possible through the Lake Travis Education Foundation, and I feel greatly blessed to see so many wonderful volunteers on our campus. We have PTO providing fun events and fundraisers. We have volunteers helping with decorations and classroom projects. On behalf of all of our staff and students, I thank you.
We are blessed each day by your presence and support. Our volunteers and donors are just amazing. What you do does make a difference in the lives of our staff and students.
I thank you, all, from the bottom of my heart and wish each and every one of you a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday.
With warmest regards,
Amy Russ, Principal

Important Information about Student Attendance
Dear West Cypress Hills Elementary Families,
We are moving along at full speed through the 2022-2023 school year. Once we begin the holiday season from November through January the days always seem to blend together. The coming months are very important to the academic success of our students. We will be introducing new content while building upon the material we have already introduced this school year.
It is imperative that your child be in school for the entire day. Our team members are providing instruction every minute of the day. Each day new concepts and applicable strategies are explored increasing our students’ knowledge base. Therefore, students need to be present from the first bell in the morning to the last bell of the day.
Disruptions in a student’s schedule such as being absent or tardy to school directly impact the learning process. We understand that there are life events, that include illness, that prevent our students from being present at school, and we will continue to work with students academically after an absence. This process becomes more difficult when student absences become more frequent.
WCHE’s academic achievement is dependent upon students being present and engaged in the classroom. We are closely monitoring each individual student’s attendance daily and will be in direct contact with families as needed.
Please contact me as soon as possible to update us on any absences.

New Toys for LTLov's Green Santa Can be Dropped off Here Through November 30!
Part of the fun of the holiday season is seeing the excitement on children's faces. And, LTLov is making it easy for us to help make the holidays bright. They've added a toy donation box to our front foyer so that new toys can be dropped off here through November 30. LTLov is accepting toy donations via their Amazon Wishlist, and through venmo. How easy is that!

WCHE to Hold Lockdown Drill the Morning of Friday, December 2
Dear West Cypress Hills Elementary School Parents and Guardians,
In 2019, Lake Travis ISD officials introduced the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) to school safety. The SRP is a proven method of creating shared language and actions among students, staff, and first responders during a school emergency.
Our staff and students will take part in a lockdown drill on Friday, December 2, 2022. As a result, parents and students may see law enforcement officers, safety vehicles and/or other emergency responders onsite. Once the drill has been initiated, teachers will immediately suspend all instruction, and students will receive further directions from their teachers regarding the drill.
Once the drill has been completed, all instruction will resume as scheduled. The drill is scheduled to occur sometime in the morning and should take no more than 15 minutes to complete. Our teachers and students have been advised of the drill and are prepared to participate. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and support during this time.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Amy Russ
Principal, West Cypress Hills Elementary School
