How it All Started
Serbia was mad at Austria-Hungary because they did not have their own country's rights. Austria-Hungry thought that they could rule over Serbia. A person that lived in Bosnia but was from Serbia murdered Franz Ferdinand, Archduke/Prince of Austria-Hungary and his wife Sophia, Duchess of Austria-Hungary. Then Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia.

Serbia was alliances with Russia, France, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, and in 1917
The Untied States, they were called the Allied Powers.
Austria-Hungary was allies with Germany, Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria. They were called the Central Powers.
Civilian Sacrifices
The Civilians had Wheatless Mondays and Meatless Tuesdays. That means Civilians have to go the day without meat or wheat (bread, cake, and other things that use wheat). Stores would have signs that said that they could not buy the product on that day.
