A Message from Mr. Miller
Happy Veterans Day to all of our service members that have and are currently serving in our Armed Forces. Thank you for your service.
Thank you so much to the families who attended our PTO meeting. Just a reminder that we are still in need of a President and Vice President to assist us with our major school events for staff and children. The PTO is a great way to be involved with the school activities and school improvement.
Mrs. Davis is planning a Winter Wonderland in December. Please reach out to her at madavis@ccboe.com to offer assistance.
First quarter grades will be posted on Monday. Kindergarten students will receive a paper copy of their report card for the first quarter only. So please check your child's bookbags on Monday and look for their printed report cards. Please continue to use ParentVue and/or StudentVue to keep track of grades and attendance for each class. If you have a concern regarding their grades, please contact the teacher first and set up a conference with the teacher. If you have additional concerns after the conference, please contact your child's grade level administrator.
Our Math Night is being rescheduled due to low interest. We will provide a new date as soon as we have one selected. I want to thank the parents that did sign up. Hopefully when we reschedule, we will have a better turn out as so many would benefit from this extra support.
As always, thank you for your continued support!
Thank you,
William Miller,
Principal

Morning Arrival
Your cooperation with all arrival and dismissal procedures helps ensure the safety and security of all of our students. We appreciate your cooperation and support throughout this process.
Doors will open for students at 8:15. You can drop off your student(s) anytime between 8:15 and 8:30. After 8:30, students are marked late and are missing instructional time. This will count as a tardy. Please be sure to pull all the way around to the corner of the curb for drop off. There are staff members on duty to show you where to stop. Please pay attention to where they are directing you to go.
Do NOT DROP your student off along Smallwood Drive. For their safety, please enter into the blue parking lot and drop them off along the curb where there are multiple adults to assist them. The green parking lot is for busses and daycare vans only. Please do NOT PARK along Smallwood Drive and walk your child up to the school. Smallwood Drive is a very busy road and it causes a dangerous situation to have vehicles parked along the main road, as well as making it difficult for drivers to see when pulling out of the parking lot.
As the temperatures are beginning to drop our car rider line in the morning gets longer and longer. Set your alarm to leave 5 minutes earlier from your house to get your child to school on time.
Holiday Time of Year
While we try to minimize our focus on the holidays, at this time of year, teachers may plan instructional activities that do have a holiday theme. If you would prefer that your student not participate in instructional activities with a holiday theme, please notify your child’s teacher in writing so that alternative activities can be planned.
CCPS Is Seeking Your Feedback
Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) Superintendent Maria Navarro recently hosted a State of Schools event at which school administrators and instructional leaders also shared individualized school improvement plans with attendees. These plans are posted on school websites and include a feedback survey at the end.
Wade's plan was reviewed in detail during our last PTO meeting. Please take a few minutes this weekend to review the plan for your child’s school(s) and take the survey so CCPS has your feedback. The survey closes at midnight on Tuesday, November 17. Plans are located on school websites in the photo slideshow, under the Announcements tab or under the website main menu. Thank you for your continued support of CCPS and sharing your feedback.
