Staff Members of the Month
It's time for nominations of our staff member of the month!
We honor a support staff member, paraprofessional, and teacher at Paloma Creek each month. Our staff created criteria for nominating each one of these staff members. Please take time to reflect over the ways you wish to celebrate our awesome staff. When you nominate someone, there's opportunity for you to write a brief comment stating why you're nominating them. All nominations are due by Friday, and we will vote on Monday.
Nomination form is below:
Fine Arts Night
We will kick off the evening with a PTA meeting in the library at 6:00. Then our choir will perform on the front steps at 6:15, followed by food trucks opening, family STEAM based art activities, and the book fair opening at 6:30.
Grade level classrooms are closed and locked during this event. Artwork will be displayed in all of the main hallways and Expo projects will be displayed in the STEAM and computer labs.
Do you love art and STEM? Sign-up to work at one of our art stations:
Is art not your thing, but you love organized, setting up, and cleaning up? Your opportunity to sign up will come to you via email from the committee.
This is one of our 2 big evening events that our community attends and loves. It is an expectation for everyone to attend. Paras, you are welcome to attend as long as you burn off your additional time before May 1st by clocking out as soon as your duties are completed.
Units of Study Reading and Writing Feedback
We have also been learning about the power of feedback and how it helps our students and us grow as learners. We have developed a feedback form specifically for this purpose. Please keep in mind that feedback is not intended to be evaluative or interpretive. Feedback is a way highlight specific evidence of reader's and writer's workshop by naming and noticing all of the components your implementing.
When a basketball coach provides feedback to his best point guard, he's providing timely, specific feedback to help his best point guard refine his shot, strategic view of the court, and stamina to help him/her get even better. That's exactly what we will be doing by providing feedback to you on the form below. Please take a moment to look over the form and let Kim, Lauren, or me know of any questions or concerns you may have.

You're welcome to utilize this form with your feedback partners today if your partner would rather you give them this feedback rather than feedback over Domain 2 or 3. Feel free to make a copy of the form or print it off if you're partner is interested in more specific feedback regarding their instructional practices for reader's or writer's workshop.
