Corroboree Frog

Description
The Southen Corroboree frog has bright yellow down its back with black stripes down its back as well. It has a call that sounds like a 'squelch' sound. It is only 2.5 - 3 cms long.
Distribution
The frog is found in bogs of the Northen Snowy Mountains within the Kosciuszko National Park.
Habitat And Ecology
Summer breeding habitat is pools and seepages in bogs, wet tussock grasslands and wet heath. The frog eats small black ants and other invertebrates. Females lay 20-30 large eggs in summer.
Threats
One threat is the damage to their breeding sites by feral pigs and horses. Another threat is disease - the Chytrid fungus.
Recovery Strategies
We need to breed the tadploes and frogs off-site and also protect their breeding sites from damage by pigs and horses.
