Otsego Local Schools

Superintendent's Weekly Update - September 4, 2015

Indoor Walking Program: I meant to get this out sooner, but I wanted to remind everyone that the Elementary Building will once again be open at night for walkers. This was a huge success last year and is definitely something we wanted to continue.

The Elementary Building will be open in the evenings from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm for community members that would like to walk the halls. The building will only be open when school is in session. There will not be indoor walking hours when school is canceled or it is a holiday. There will also be a course map that will tell you the distance traveled, along with a sign-in sheet as you enter the elementary building.

Who: The Otsego Community

What: Otsego Community Indoor Walking Program

Dates: Monday – Friday (every day that Otsego is in session)

Time: 6:00pm to 8:00 pm

Location: Elementary Building (enter the main entrance)

F.A.C.E of Otsego

As you may recall this group is made up of officials from each Village, Township, School Board, organizations affiliated with Otsego, parents, and community members. This is just the start of great conversations and collaboration among members of our great Otsego Community! We have a meeting scheduled for September 24th at the new Middleton Township Building on Route 25, just north of SR 582. The meeting starts at 6:30 pm. If you would like to join us, please feel free. The more the merrier. This will not be an only school led group; it will be a true community group that we all can benefit from. We discussed communication strategies, shared services, and other community events last year. If this is something that you think you might be interested in please let me know. You can email or call me if you would like more information. If anyone has any ideas for community projects or anything that you think we all can benefit from please send me an email or give me call. Thank you! akoch@otsegoknights.org

Dear Parents,

Dealing with your children’s school money just got a lot easier! You can now add money to their accounts for meals, pay for school-related fees online securely and even see what they are buying.

Go to www.K12PaymentCenter.com and click “Register Now” to create an account. Select Otsego from the drop-down lists of school districts, fill in your information, input your credit or debit card information and you’re ready to go! Note that you will need your child’s student ID number; simply contact us for their ID number and with any other questions you may have. Please ask your child what his/her account number is. This number can also be found in PowerSchool.

As of now, the only things you will be able to do are pay for school lunches and see what your children are buying at school. We will be adding school fees and other items in the future. We will let everyone know when this becomes available.

The Otsego Softball team is selling Otsego Decals once again this year. Show your Otsego Pride! They are $5. Click Here for the order form. This is a fundraiser for the team. Thank you for your support!

Every Wednesday, ALL sports will wait until 3:00pm to start their practices. This will allow for students to seek out teachers after school for help with their school work and not feel as rushed to get out to practice as well as allow our athletes to possibly get involved in other clubs and organizations which will be allowed to meet after school during this time. Athletic teams may hold study tables after school on Wednesdays until 3:00pm.

‘Otsego Athletics’ is on Twitter and Facebook. Follow for high school scores and other athletic department information. Also, if you’d like to receive athletic news and updates by email please email athletics@otsegoknights.org to be added to the list.

Community Events Section

Reminder: Please send me any and all community events that you might know of. I love sharing things in and around our great community. I will start sending out updates every Friday starting the first week of school. If you could email me community events by Thursday evening that would be great. Thank you.
