From the Principal's Desk
The end of August is upon us, and we are now officially going to start into the Fall season. With this comes the busy nights of activities and events. We do want to take time to invite you to some events we will have this month at GBE. Coming up next Friday is our 3rd Grader's Grandparent Lunch day. The date is September 7th. 3rd Grade teachers sent home RSVP forms this week. Please check your child's backpack. If you have any issue do email or reach out to your child's teacher for another form.
Fourth and Fifth grade students will have their Grandparent Lunches the two following Fridays in that order. Fourth will be on September 14th. Fifth will be on September 21st. Again RSVP forms will come home the Friday before your child's lunch date. We do need these to get a count.
Lunch Prices are as follows: Adult's cost is $2.50 and $0.40 for a milk. We will have change that day when you come in to eat.
The other big event this month is our Parent Night at GBE on Sepetember 19th. The night will start at 5:30 and run to 7:00. This will be similar to our Curriculum nights held in the past. I do want to encourage you to attend to help you know your chld's curriculum and what resources are available to you and your family.
To make things easier for you to attend, we are offerring a space for children to come and play games with supervision while you attend the Parent Night.
Again, this is a time for you to come in and meet with your child's grade level teachers, Title and Special Education will also be in the same room for your child's grade. Our Specials teachers will also be available that evening as well.
Our Schedule will look this way for the evening:
5:30 to 6:00 1st Session of Info for Parents with Q and A
6:00 to 6:30 2nd Session of Info for Parnets with Q and A
(each session will have the same info/allowing for parents to visit more than one grade level if needed-or visit our Specialist's session for Music, Art, Library Media, PE and Counseling)
3rd Grade Parents will be hosted in Mrs. Sterling's room
4th Grade Parents will be hosted in Mrs. Ross' room
5th Grade Parents will be hosted in Mrs. Mefford's room
Specialsist will host parents in the Library
Children attending with parents can be hosted in Mrs. Messer's room and play games with adult Supervision
I know each of you are very busy at this time of year and we want to be sure to keep you updated so you can attend and get the best out of these events. We know our work together will help our kids SOAR!!
Happy Fall Ya'll-
Mrs. Doss

Title 1 News:
Schoolwide Title I is a federal program to help all students get a quality education and meet academic standards. All staff, resources and classes are part of the overall Schoolwide program. Title I interventionists work with small groups of students who will experience more success when given some extra instruction. The student’s classroom teacher and/or reading interventionist identifies the student as needing additional help based on their reading test scores and performance in the classroom. Other indicators we use to qualify students for specialized reading groups are concerns of parents, STAR/IReady test scores, MAP scores and their DRA level. (Developmental Reading Assessment) Those who show the greatest educational need, and who are not receiving Special Education services, are served first.
Gratz Brown Elementary Title I interventionists are Tessa Rivera, Sarah Showalter and Carrie Thompson.
Our School, Parent and Family Engagement Policy and our Rights of Parents document can be found in the School Handbook on the District webpage (http://moberly.k12.mo.us/) under the GBE heading.
