A visit from an Olympic athlete

Learning the importance of perseverance

Today we welcomed Lucy Hall, an Olympic triathlete to our school. Lucy shared with the children footage of her competing at the London Olympics and spoke about the huge amount of training required to achieve success.

Children asked her some very insightful questions about her life as a professional athlete and how she felt when she represented her country.

During the morning children from most of the classes had a training session with Lucy. They developed their skills and considered how to keep fit. There was a focus on having a positive mindset and persevering in order to improve.

The athletes are funded by sponsorship and donations. Before Christmas a form was sent home with children should you wish to provide support. Please could we ask that any forms and sponsorship money are sent into school next week.

A huge thank you to Lucy and we wish her well in her career.

Traffic Surveys

Children from both the Year 2 and Year 3 classes have been counting and analysing the vehicles which pass at the traffic lights on the crossroad near school. This term Year 2 are considering the question, 'What is the best way to travel?' They will also use this 'real life' data for all sorts of maths, statistics and graph practice!

New Admissions Policy from September 2020

We are holding an informal 'drop in' session after school next Thursday, 17th January, and would love for any parents who have questions about our new policy for school admissions to come along. The governors on the admissions committee and Mr Holmes will be available to discuss the policy. They will be in the school hall from 3.15 to 4pm and you will be able to ask any questions you may have about the new arrangements, which come into place in September 2020. We think we will be able to put your minds at rest as there are, in fact, very few changes to the old arrangements. The policy is out to public consultation until 31st January and the link below will take you to relevant page on our school website. We look forward to welcoming you in the hall at 3.15pm or as soon as you can make it after that.
