Pre-K 3 is the place to be!

Mrs. Phillips' and Mrs. Stephanie's Pre-K 3 group has been having the best time since school started! From playing outside to playing inside, to learning about different tastes (tasting apples and lemons), learning about different smells (peanut butter, coffee, cinnamon and cocoa) and even getting to eat popcorn and watch a movie!

3rd graders working on a Project Lead the Way Lesson

In September, Mrs. Burkett's 3rd grade students learned about simple machines and how they can help us with hard jobs! Maybe we have some future engineers in this classroom!

Local Journalist Visits CES

Crossett native Gabrielle Phifer has worked for the local news station, KTVE, based out of Monroe, LA and El Dorado, AR, for several years. Gabrielle graduated from Crossett High School in 2012. Gabrielle visited with the CES Leadership team on September 21st, prior to relocating to Michigan to begin a news anchor position. From the pictures, it appears the students were very interested in film and journalism!

Mr. Wayne sings National Anthem

On Friday, September 24th, one of CES' music teachers, Mr. Wayne, shared his singing talent with the school by singing the National Anthem over the intercom. Everyone says he sang beautifully!

We've got spirit, yes we do! We've got spirit, how 'bout you?

CES participated in Homecoming Spirit Week during the week of September 28th-October 1st. Monday was Mismatched Day, Tuesday was Camo Day, Wednesday was Crazy Sock Day, Thursday was Twin Day, and on Friday everyone showed their EAGLE PRIDE!

Van Gogh Sunflowers at CES!

In September, Mrs. Lockling's Art classes painted inspired Van Gogh Sunflowers. Her art classes consist of grades K-4 (Mrs. McDonald's and Miss Miles' Kindergarten classes; Mrs. McBride's and Mrs. Reynolds' 1st grade classes; Mrs. Wall's and Mrs. M. Jackson's 2nd grade classes; Mrs. B. Riley's, Mrs. L. Jones', Mrs. Dolan's and Ms. Burkett's 3rd grade classes; and Mrs. Haynie's and Mrs. Harrington's 4th grade classes). The portraits of sunflowers in a vase are from Van Gogh's second set of the two part series. Painted in 1888 in Arles, Van Gogh used oil on canvas as his medium to create the still life paintings. It looks like we have some young Van Gogh's at CES!

Mrs. Bailey's 6th grade Science Pumpkin Jack Experiment

On Monday, October 11th, Mrs. Bailey's 6th grade Science classes began the Pumpkin Jack Experiment. Mrs. Bailey said that the classes will watch the life cycle of this pumpkin as it begins to decompose, rot, expose its seeds, and then hopefully grow into new pumpkins. This experiment will last the rest of this school year and into the summer.

Did you know that pumpkins are considered a fruit?! Who knew?!

CMS Just Can't Hide That Eagle Pride

CMS participated in Homecoming Spirit Week September 27th-October 1st. Monday was Camo Day, Tuesday was Super Hero Day, Wednesday was Wild about them Eagles Day, Thursday was "Matchy Matchy" (Twins or dress alike), and Friday was "Maroon Out" Day.

5th graders Learn about Arts and Crafts of the Native Americans from the Southwest

Mrs. Canady's 5th graders identified characteristic features of the arts and crafts of the Southwest Native Americans. Students analyzed how features of a culture change over time and then they added in their own personal touches to their work.

CMS holds Beta Club Inductions

Crossett Middle School inducted several students into the CMS Beta Club on October 11th and 12th. The CMS Beta Club is sponsored by Ms. Melissa Martar.

CHS Seniors become certified in Financial Literacy

Since school started, many CHS Seniors in Mrs. Janla Gardner's classes have become certified in Financial Literacy. These students have learned key money concepts, like saving and budgeting strategies, as well as other financial concepts. Many students have won gift cards for having their name placed in random drawings after they became certified! Congratulations, students!

CHS Homecoming 2021

CHS Homecoming was held on Friday, October 1st. The assembly was held at 2 p.m. in the CHS Arena, where maids were escorted by Senior football players. Each maid was recognized before the crowning of the Homecoming Queen, Leigha Jordan. The ceremony prior to the football game was held at 6:30 p.m. and the maids and queen were escorted across the football field by their dads or other family members. Kickoff began at 7 p.m. with Crossett winning 66-14 over Dumas!

ESports kicks off season on October 5th

CHS ESports kicked off their season on October 5th. ESports sponsor is Mr. Nick Adams. The students play anything from Super Smash Brothers to Madden 21 and many other types of games! The students compete individually and on teams. It looks like the season is off to a good start with a full group of "ESportsters"!

Cross Country runs FAR!

At the El Dorado Cross Country Meet, Aiden Wright placed 2nd for the Junior High team, Delaney Maggio placed 8th for the High School team, and Paxton Elliott (little brother of Kenna Elliott on the CHS team) placed 1st in the Kids Fun Run for 6th grade and below! Aiden is a 9th grader and Delaney is a 10th grader at CHS. Paxton is a 3rd grader at Crossett Elementary.
