Islam
The followers of Islam are called Muslims and one out of five people in the world are Muslim. The Five Pillars of Islam are the central teachings of Muslims. They are the declaration of faith, prayer, charity, fasting and making a pilgrimage to Makkah. The second Pillar of Islam is salat, daily ritual of prayer. Muslims places of worship are called mosques and the place has little to no furniture. Allah Muhammad was the worship leader and the Qur'an is the holy book of Islam. The two major Muslim holidays are Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. People attend prayers at a mosque and the other is a festival last last four days. The fifth Pillar of Islam is hajj, the holy city of makkah. During the 12th month of the Islamic year, millions travel to Makkah.
Islam, Judaism and Christianity are all monotheists, which means they believe in one God. All three trace their origins to Abraham. Their scriptures are sacred writings and Muslims believe that all three religions worship the same God.
