Enjoy a rare and special opportunity to join the Palos Verdes Art Center and its Executive Director Joe Baker on an exciting and informative trip to Cuba.

Meet the people of Cuba and learn about art from the Americas, and the World.

The week will be devoted to meeting and sharing ideas with Cuban artists, curators and the everyday people of Havana. Contemporary art of Cuba, Latin America, Asia and Africa will be fully displayed throughout the city, making this curated event the only place on the Globe where you can see all of this work together in one place. For American art experts and aficionados alike, the Havana Bienal is a good way to stay in touch with developments in the visual arts of these regions.

The Bienal is a few months away. This is a perfect time to book your trip. You can secure your space with your deposit on a first come first served basis.

What is People to People Travel?

On January 16, 2015 President Obama liberalized People to People educational travel, which now allows Americans to travel to Cuba without all of the paperwork previously needed. This makes travel to Cuba infinitely easier. People to People travel is not tourist oriented or self directed but it is both rewarding and unique. It allows participants to visit a wide scope of organizations, institutions, and community projects that provide a deeper understanding of Cuba, its people and its culture. This PVAC trip includes a full time schedule of educational exchange activities designed to promote meaningful interactions between Americans and the people of Cuba.

The Palos Verdes Art Center

The Palos Verdes Art Center, a non-profit community visual arts gallery and school, “inspires individuals to celebrate, appreciate and create art.” Since 1931, when it was founded as a cultural arm of the planned community of Palos Verdes Estates, the Art Center’s exhibition, education and outreach programs have made the visual arts available, accessible and affordable.

The Palos Verdes Art Center provides an economically and ethnically diverse community with free art exhibitions, studio art classes, awards and scholarships, art experiences for differently-abled youth and adults, school-based art education, standards-based art programs for schools, and opportunities to volunteer. The Palos Verdes Art Center inspires individuals to celebrate, appreciate and create art.
